- There's a flashback or dream sequence.

- An actor awkwardly holds their post-shock-revelation face while waiting for the end theme tune to kick in.
- There's a shameless racial stereotype (e.g. Liljana Bishop saying "There's an old Serbian saying..." followed by a cliched expression that is used totally internationally, Connor playing a tin whistle, comedy Italian music, Mishka's descriptions of Russia as if it's still the 1920s, Carmella's mafia family, etc.).

- Susan says "good-o".
- Susan and Karl allude to any form of sexual activity.
- Karl is tight about money.

- Paul gets kidnapped and/or nearly dies.
- Lawyer Toadie and Stupid Joker Toadie are both in the same episode.
- The writers attempt to justify a ridiculously unlikely medical situation by having Karl Kennedy say "it's not uncommon for...".
