In The Night Garden: Hello Igglepiggle on DVD

Set to top pre-schoolers’ Christmas wish lists this year is a brand new In The Night Garden DVD release from BBC Worldwide, titled Hello Igglepiggle. The second DVD from this enchanting hit series is available in all good retailers on November 5, 2007 priced £12.99.

In the Night Garden is produced by Ragdoll Productions and has been co-created by Anne Wood and Andy Davenport, who last collaborated together on Teletubbies. It is about a magical picture-book place where words, rhymes and music carry young viewers through a happy world with a host of wonderful characters based loosely on toys, living together within a caring community and nursery rhyme nonsense.

Igglepiggle, who despite being curious and adventurous, needs the comfort and security of his red blanket and is joined by his very best friend Upsy Daisy, a happy and optimistic dolly who loves to sing and dance her way around the garden. Other residents of the Night Garden include Makka Pakka, a pat-a-cake toy who insists on washing everyone’s faces; the adorable Tombliboos who are knockabout pepper-pot toys; the Pontipines - a family of 10 little peg-doll characters; and impossible to overlook are the 5 enormous Haahoos who gently waft their way through the Garden. Not to be forgotten are the Ninky Nonk, a fantastical kind of train, and the Pinky Ponk, a funny sort-of airship.

In the Night Garden has been filmed in a real woodland setting using High Definition technology to create a compelling and fully immersive experience for young viewers.

The DVD features the following five episodes, each rich in detail and silliness:

Igglepiggle's blanket in Makka Pakka's Ditch
Igglepiggle has lost his blanket. Upsy Daisy helps him look for it. They hear the distant sound of Makka Pakka’s trumpet call. The Gazebo shows them a picture of Makka Pakka, so they visit him and find Igglepiggle’s blanket in Makka Pakka’s ditch, blocking Makka Pakka’s way. Makka Pakka is so pleased to be able to make his way out into the garden, that he washes Igglepiggle’s and Upsy Daisy’s faces on the spot.

Jumping for Everybody
The Pontipines count to six. Upsy Daisy shows Igglepiggle how to jump. Soon everybody is joining in the jumping game – from the great big Haahoos to the teeny tiny Pontipines. Everybody joins in the dance at the gazebo.

Igglepiggle's Mucky Patch
Igglepiggle falls down flat and gets a muddy patch on his tummy. He gets the mud on his hand, on his blanket and on Upsy Daisy. Igglepiggle and Upsy Daisy go riding in the Ninky Nonk and spread mucky patches all over that too. Finally they meet Makka Pakka who washes them all clean. Thank you Makka Pakka! Everybody joins in the dance at the gazebo.

The Pinky Ponk Adventure
The Pinky Ponk gets stuck in a tree and tips up. Everybody slides up one end. They rock back and forth and tip the Pinky Ponk the other way. They slide up to the other end. The Pinky Ponk tips back and forth and everybody slides up and down, having great fun. At last the Pinky Ponk breaks free and flies off, taking everybody to the dance.

Igglepiggle's blanket walks about by itself.
Igglepiggle is enjoying dancing in the garden. He leaves his blanket in a safe place but when he returns, it is gone. Igglepiggle’s blanket has landed on Makka Pakka and seems to be running about all by itself.

The DVD also contains the following three exciting extras:

Goodnight Everyone:
viewers can see their favourite Night Garden characters saying goodnight when they press on the character icons.

Audio Commentary:
with the creators Anne Wood & Andy Davenport.

Special Feature:
Nap Time mode - This mode provides parents and carers the means to share with their children an extended version of a calm and quiet moment drawn from the programme itself. When activated the Nap Time mode displays Igglepiggle sleeping in his boat, floating on the calm sea at night, set against the gentle music of the opening titles of the programme. Parents and carers can view an episode with the Nap Time mode engaged, which sees the calming scene automatically engaged at the conclusion of the episode.
