The Electric Soft Parade: 'No Need To Be Downhearted'
Spiralling freely from monastic vocal ambience into frivolous electro-pop soundscapes and turbulent disco missiles, 'No Need To Be Downhearted' is an innovative journey into a weird and wonderful sonic landscape that sounds both frankly familiar and more refreshing than a warm, lemony, towel.
There are beat-driven indie floor fillers scattered amongst ethereal ballads and dirty tuxedo nuggets of fuzz-rock to be found; each bursting their creative innards all over the place in an inspirational musical shower that rarely gets ahead of itself or becomes stale.
It could be a forced link with their name, but there’s more than a little of The Doors hidden between the notes of The Electric Soft Parade – the confident and understated vocals mixed with the concise musical arrangements evoke glimmers of Jim Morrison and co., which is a credit to the talent displayed and a hint at the greatness that could come. A glorious album, hearty but not perfect, that will bring musical joy to many.
