Angus & Julia Stone: 'Heart Full Of Wine'
I’ve been listening to these Australian siblings constantly since this double-mini-album-and-EP set arrived on my doormat, quavering in indecision, scared to fall for another acoustic band everyone else considers bed-wetting soppy gits. Alas, I am truly in love.
Releasing their new mini-album ‘Heart Full of Wine’ along with previously released EP ‘Chocolate a Cigarettes’, the duo craft a soft-centred sound reminiscent of Camera Obscura’s finer moments, and John Butler Trio’s quieter ones.
Julia Stone’s tender voice, a hybrid of Bjork and that-chick-from-Morcheeba, creates beautiful songs backed by equally beautiful lyrics, such as standout track ‘Sadder Than You’, a breathtakingly simple song with real heart. Brother Angus’ voice is perhaps even more likeable, and in the title track he displays one of those sounds that is impossible to disregard. Perfect for lazy Sunday mornings, and rescuing yourself from the brink of heartache.
