Loney, Dear: 'Loney, Noir'
The brainchild and alter ego of Swedish singer/songwriter Emil Svanangen, Loney, Dear bring us their second UK album release ‘Loney, Noir’. Since 2002, Emil has been recording and self-releasing his music, but it was last years performance at the SXSW festival in Austin, Texas that blew the audience away.
Loney, Dear’s first album ‘Sologne’ received outstanding reviews, so what does follow up album ‘Loney, Noir’ have to offer? Bringing together an array of instruments including guitars, flutes, clarinets, accordions and emotive, passionate vocals, ‘Loney, Noir’ is an eclectic, symphonic masterpiece. Using rhythmic layers and textures, instrumentally this album builds layer upon layer, characterised by Salvagen’s striking falsetto vocals. Full of the same dreamy qualities as the Flaming Lips or Belle & Sebastian, ‘Loney, Noir’ has a worry-free, enchanting feel to it, infusing folk-pop-indie with a charming naivety. An inspiring piece of musicianship.
Released 16th April 2007 by Regal.
