Mumm-ra: 'These Things Move In Threes'

From the massive romping opener, 'Now Or Never', Mumm-Ra have produced eleven tracks of impressive proportions, displaying guitar virtuosity throughout and sincerity for every inch of James New’s charming vocals. After a while the quiet and slow-to-loud-and-fast dynamic begins to grate but there are stunners here, She’s Got You High is a beautiful Stone-Roses dalliance. 'Song B' shows they can at least attempt harder rock, even if they entirely don’t pull it off, while 'Light Up This Room' builds and builds, a decent stab at post-rock grandiosity. 'This Is Easy' never quite finds itself, but 'Down Down Down' closes the album conclusively with some seven minutes of chorus and slow burning rock winding the enterprise down.
