Stella Artois World Draught Master Championship

Last week, we popped over to the Cockoo Club in central London to learn about the art of pouring the perfect pint with draught master Marc Stoobandt of Stella Artois.
Proper draught masters (not the ones you get down your local Weatherspoons) take care and have developed an art over pouring the perfect pint to compete in a World Championship! Stella Artois have developed 9 steps to pouring the perfect pint and over a few we were taken through the importance of everything from the quality of the glass to the angle of pouring (the secret is 45). The best bit was cutting the head off the pint with the knife - just like the TV ads.
The evening marked the beginning of the build up to the annual Stella Artois World Draught Master Championship, aimed at finding the world’s best ‘Créateur de Beauté.
The winner will receive the prestigious Draught Master title, plus £500 for themselves and £2,500 for their outlet, and will have the honour of representing the nation in the World Draught Masters taking place in the UK for the first time.
More than 30 bar staff from all over the world, including the newly-crowned UK winner, will put their dispense skills to the test in London on 28th October 2010. The winner will become the global Ambassador for the art of pouring the perfect Stella Artois.
