FlatOut: Ultimate Carnage (Xbox 360)
The third in the FlatOut series continues the same themes as its predecessors, but this time there's loads more destructible objects (8000 per level!), improved particle effects, real-time lighting and one hell of an all round experience.
In the standard races you're pitted up against a whopping 12 opponents and they're all out to win, so they'll take anyone down to get that first place - they're not all out to get you for a change. The levels themselves look awesome, the thousands of breakable objects literally fill your screen at times, really adding to the excitement and intensity.
The in-game action is complemented perfectly by a heavy rock soundtrack, sealing off the whole package nicely. We're not just limited to racing either, there's plenty of other modes. Most importantly, the hilarious party games which involve catapulting your rag-doll driver through the car windscreen to achieve various objectives. FlatOut: UC is a thoroughly enjoyable game, which can stand proud next to the Burnouts knowing its made its mark on the destruction racer genre.
