Poirot: After The Funeral

It’s Christmas cash-in season and this year that means an influx of DVD games for each and every gameshow and TV show in existence - some good, some bad and some very ropey indeed. Thankfully this is firmly in the good category, verging on very good, with David Suchet, the man who portrays the Belgin sleuth so perfectly on TV, fronting this DVD game in full character.

Based on the popular story 'After The Funeral', the dapper detective introduces us to the story at hand and explains very efficiently the way to play the game. It’s a very easy on the remote game, simple in idea and intriguing in premise. We get introduced to the characters, the crimes and potential murderer via links and voiceovers by Suchet’s alter-ego. The game plays like a real-life game of Cluedo, as you move your cursor around the map onscreen, read case notes, see footage from the TV episode, solve puzzles and compete against another player or play as a team to beat Agatha Christie’s finest creation to solving the crime.

This is a nice little festive gift for fans of DVD games, Poirot and detective stories alike. Even if you have seen the story and know the murderer, you can still find enough inventive puzzling and working out to keep your interest. The game should be competitive and involving enough to make for a lot of repeated plays well into the New Year.

Released 12th November 2007 by Universal.
