Love Happens
Love Happens follows the relationship which develops from a chance meeting in Seattle between Burke (The Dark Knight's Aaron Eckhart), a self-help specialist on the cusp of celebrity, and local florist Eloise (Jennifer Aniston on autopilot).
Burke is struggling to come to terms with the untimely death of his wife - strange, as he himself acts as a professional counselor for those suffering from grief. As his friendship with Eloise develops, however, he finds himself more able to come to terms with his tragic past...
It’s difficult to place this movie (tagged as “2010’s must have Valentine's DVD”); you’d assume it to be a classic rom-com, but there’s little comedy and minimal chemistry between Aniston and Eckhart, leaving the viewer just a little bored and a bit depressed.
You might experience sporadic spurts of emotion at times, but this will be more due to the well-compiled soundtrack than anything else. Most notably, you may feel something when Explosions In The Sky are played during an emotionally ‘climactic’ scene, but in all honesty, their music would tug at your heart when you were doing the washing up, so the film’s script and the acting can take little credit.
