Quentin Tarantino's Death Proof

Tarantino loves asses. If there’s one thing you are sure of right from the opening of his latest slasher/actionfest it’s that he is definitely a legs and backside man. And he still likes feet a lot. Putting that to one side, this is a brilliantly funny, knowing, violent and highly entertaining spectacle telling the tale of one man - the well grizzled Kurt Russell - and his car proving to be an impressive danger to all who travel on the roads.

Like most of Tarantino’s films, that’s just one of the stories coursing through the veins of this movie. With purposely abrupt cuts and colour inconsistencies in this exploitation pastiche, it’s stylised well but not off the map of distraction. The stunts and cars had me holding my face with a grin and a grimace alternating, as the thrills of a classic Tarantino ride were gamely delivered. Gripping throughout and fully bodied with satisfaction, this sends you laughing to jumping and back again. One hundred per cent satisfaction.
