EastEnders' Phil Daniels in Freebird on DVD

From the producers of Layer Cake and Snatch, comes a British road trip comedy packed with cool rides, a great rock soundtrack by Youth and amazing scenery. Stoner comedy Freebird is released on DVD by Anchor Bay Entertainment on 2nd June 2008.

Kawasaki, Moto Guzzi, Suzuki and the rest are all here alongside snappy dialogue and rival biking gangs on the road ‘trip’ of a lifetime!

Phil Daniels (Quadrophenia, Scum, EastEnders), Gary Stretch (Dead Mans Shoes, Alexander), and Geoff Bell (The Business, Stardust) comprise a trio of London based motorcycle couriers as they head off on a journey to the Welsh mountains in search of an elusive hippy and his cannabis farm.

Fred (Stretch) has made a promise to his old friend ‘The Chairman’ (Peter Bowles) that whatever situations arise on the trip, he will not return empty handed. Grouch (Daniels) has also made a promise that come Monday morning, he will move his belongings into his girlfriend’s house and attempt to have a crack at the world of serious relationships. As for Tyg (Bell), he has never been further than the outskirts of London. He is just out for the fun of it and to explore the back and beyond of the big wide world.

What was initially intended to be a nice weekend out in the country turns into a madcap mission. Fuelled by booze and dope, the three rediscover the joys of camping, air guitar and a huge surreal trip on magic mushrooms and various cocktails of drugs.

But what are those wild beast noises coming from the woods? And why is the area thronging with revenge-seeking biker gangs? Was that really a seven-foot, lovesick, masked wrestler in the pub? Can the mysterious hippy really see into the future? Perhaps it’s all just something to do with all those wild mushrooms our intrepid couriers had for breakfast.
