Robert Boulter (Donkey Punch) Interview

Starring Jaime Winstone, Nichola Burley and Sian Breckin, Donkey Punch is a no-holds-barred horror/thriller that pushes the genre to its limits and dares to ask the question: Do you know what a Donkey Punch is? Robert Boulter plays Sean in the film.

On screen, Robert Boulter has appeared The Long Firm opposite Derek Jacobi and will next be seen in the upcoming Daylight Robbery due for release in 2008. His credits on stage include Herons (Royal Court), the controversial Mercury Fur directed by John Tiffany and the award-winning Burn/Chatroom/Citizenship short plays (National Theatre). He most recently starred in a three-hander called How to Curse directed by Josie Rourke (Bush Theatre).

“My agent rang me saying she had a script called Donkey Punch, which is proving a bit controversial amongst those who've read it so far. I said ‘Great, I can't wait to read it!’ I was drawn to Sean straight away. I liked that he was passionate. He struggles with his loyalty to his brother, to his friends, to his job and future, to Tammi and with his strong sense of right and wrong. He's a lot more laidback than the others, preferring to be on the boat, at sea, fishing, relaxing, rather than out on the pull with the boys.

The filming schedule was frightening at times, but its pace certainly lent itself to the nature and energy of the film. I quite enjoyed that it was out of our hands. We could never feel safe and secure or get too comfortable. We had to be on the front foot the whole time.”

Donkey Punch is released in UK cinemas on 18th July 2008.
