Jaime Winstone (Donkey Punch) Interview

Starring Jaime Winstone, Nichola Burley and Sian Breckin, Donkey Punch is a no-holds-barred horror/thriller that pushes the genre to its limits and dares to ask the question: Do you know what a Donkey Punch is? Jaime Winstone plays Kim in the film.

Twenty one year old Jaime was first seen in the short film Love Letter. This was followed with a part in the award winning Bullet Boy and then the highly acclaimed Kidulthood. Jaime will soon be seen in Daddy’s Girl and has just finished working on Boogie Woogie (due out in 2008). On television, Jaime has taken the lead role in Phoo Action for the BBC, has appeared in a regular role in Goldplated as well as having appearances in Vincent and Totally Frank.

“It’s one of those mental but ideal situations: three girls from Leeds with these boys who happen to have a yacht at their disposal and also loads of drugs. It goes from a dream reality to an absolute nightmare.

Considering it’s a psychological thriller, the filming was a very psychologically intense experience. Seven young actors on a yacht, at times covered in blood, in the middle of the dark waters of South Africa, where we were sometimes shooting really long hours to get scenes done. There was a buzz, an excitement to be part of this project and a really talented young cast. We’re all around the same age and the same stage of our careers, so there was this really natural organic vibe on set.

Kim starts off cocksure and confident, but by the end, the combination of drugs and the fight for survival drive her to the point of madness. It’s possibly the worst come-down you could ever imagine!”

Donkey Punch is released in UK cinemas on 18th July 2008.
