Iron Man - The cars of Tony Stark

When your main mode of transport is a rocket-powered iron suit, you want to make sure that when on ground, you travel in style. For Tony Stark, this means a selection of the world’s most powerful and stylish cars.

In Iron Man, released to buy on DVD and Blu-ray on 27th October 2008, Stark is the proud driver of a selection of impressive vehicles, showcased here for maximum envy...

Audi R8

Named after a successful race car and powered by a 4.2-litre 414bhp V8 powerplant, the R8 was introduced in 2007 to rave reviews. It’s priced at close to £80,000 and was the jewel in Tony Stark’s car collection. Its top speed is a whopping 187 miles per hour and it can reach 0-60 in just over 4 seconds.

Tesla Roadster

Highly anticipated by many, the Roadster is a fully electric sports car still coveted by many due to its restricted availability. George Clooney and Arnie are just two eco-conscious celebs who are waiting patiently on the list. For Stark though, being at the top of the list is easy, but for those of us in the UK we’ll have to wait a little longer. There are still no plans to build a Roadster with a steering-wheel on the right-hand side.

Rolls Royce Phantom

When being driven around by the director of Iron Man himself, Jon Favreau in a cameo role, you want something with extreme exclusivity and total luxury. BMW has even set a limit on the opulent Phantom with only 10,000 units ever to be built. The car will set you back around £250,000 were you thinking of treating your driver in the near future.

Audi S5

Perfect for arriving at a swanky party or an exclusive premiere, the S5 makes an enviably sleek impression. Competing with the BMW 3 series and the Mercedes CLK, this luxury coupe speeds right to the top of any playboy’s most wanted list. But the only S5 that appeals to Tony Stark is the 4.2-litre V8 powered vehicle, of course.

Saleen S7

Limited production, hand-built, high performance – the S7 is a car to be drooled over. Created back in 2000 with a standard V8 engine the car underwent a drastic makeover in 2005 and now boasts a massive twin-turbo system which has boosted engine power to 750 horsepower. In its newest incarnation, the car has a whopping top speed of 250mph, meaning it’s the closest you’ll come to flying around town, if you can spare about £250,000 that is.
