The Drums: 'I Felt Stupid'

Having recently performed their debut gig in this country to ecstatic reviews, The Drums are widely tipped to be the next band to break out of the Brooklyn scene. Following in the foot steps of the likes of Animal Collective and MGMT, it's easy to understand why given the quality of their debut release, 'The Summertime EP'.

'I Felt Stupid', the second single to be lifted from that collection, is another slice of energetic and charismatic new wave-infused indie pop. Seemingly less concerned with the appearance of cool than peers like The Strokes, there is an endearing geekiness and innocence to this tale of love, desire and guilt set to Pulp-like keyboards and the sort of spindly, angular guitar riff that Bernard Sumner pioneered in the late seventies with Joy Division. Charming, uncontrived and heartfelt, The Drums deserve all the accolades that come there way.
