Delphic: ‘Doubt’
Manchester, a city renowned for producing some of the most innovative bands Britain has ever seen, has been uncharacteristically silent these past few years; the last decade, in fact.
Well, all that may be about to change with the emergence of Delphic, a new act that hope to break the mould, so to speak, with their contrasting melancholic vibe and energetic sound. Already hailed as one of the most exciting new prospects for 2010, they successfully made their TV debut with a spot on Later... With Jools Holland, where they performed 'Doubt', the upcoming single from their forthcoming album ‘Acolyte’.
The song, addictively engaging, works via its omnipresent erratic-beat, which is so infectious it’ll have your body moving, regardless of your brain’s control. While the lyrics are somewhat simplistic, there are still hints of edginess and darkness, which no doubt bode well for more challenging material in the future.
‘Doubt’ reveals a lot of promise from a new act, something the album will hopefully propel, and much like Empire Of The Sun you’ll find yourself lost in its youthful melody. Never a bad thing.
