Hot Chip: 'One Life Stand'
Indie-dance crossover geek-gods Hot Chip return imminently with their fourth studio album, 'One Life Stand', and this titular first single from said record is unmistakably them.
Harking back to the irresistibly catchy glory days of 2006’s breakthrough, 'The Warning' and 2008’s 'Made In The Dark# (both records replete with chart friendly glitchiness), this is yet another bout of accessible dance sleekness, albeit with an oh-so 2009 Depeche Mode-plundering '80s gloss.
Not quite as immediate as previous hits and representing few steps forward, 'One Life Stand' bears a slight hint of the complacence traditionally associated with an act of their growing status. Still, if complacence produces tunes as enjoyable as this, it’s maybe not such a bad thing after all.
