Marina & The Diamonds: ‘Hollywood’

While the band name might sound like the indie version of a 1960s girl-group, Marina & The Diamonds is actually just Greek-Welsh singer-songwriter Marina Diamond.

‘I’m obsessed with the mess that’s America,’ she admits on her latest single 'Hollywood', a slice of glamorous pop that shimmers in both beats and Katy-Perry-like lyrics.

With her deep voice an unexpected contrast to her good looks, and a chorus that’s more Glastonbury than X Factor, Marina appears to be courting the pop scene while simultaneously rejecting it. It’s a natural quirkiness that stands her in good stead for a bright career, whether this oddity of a single thrills the T4 crowds or not.
