Liars: 'Scissor'

Liars have never been an easy band to love. The LA-based three piece’s last album was roundly panned by the critics until a unified wind change occurred and it became universally hailed as a misunderstood masterpiece.

That album was full of jarring, at times impenetrable, hybrid rock and 'Scissor', the first single to be taken from the forthcoming album 'Sisterworld', is very much cut from the same cloth. Continuing their move towards sparer, less baroque arrangements, 'Scissor' is a melding of beautiful mournful choral pop backed with classical cello and thrash metal that draws comparisons to Muse and Rage Against The Machine at their most arch. The track and its accompanying album will no doubt alienate as many as it seduces, but never let it be said that Liars don’t challenge and provoke in equal measure.
