We Are The Physics: 'Bulimia Sisters'
Glasgow four-piece We Are The Physics are another in the long line of bands currently trading in jerky, angular post-punk indie, typified by the likes Foals and Bloc Party.
Taken from their debut album, 'Bulimia Sisters' is a vibrant and energetic thrash full of caustic, distorted guitars, tight polyrhythmic drumming, and half-shouted vocal hollering. Beginning with a jagged guitar riff and urgent drums, the song soon unveils a chorus riff that is reminiscent of a corrupted version of Led Zeppelin’s 'Kashmir', coming to a close with a crescendo of wailing backing vocals.
Despite the song's passionate rawness, it fails to elevate We Are The Physics above their competition. Ultimately this is solid songwriting that lacks the inspiration that separates the truly great bands from the merely mediocre.
