The Big Pink: ‘Stop The World’

It’s not often that a band made up of only two people comes along. Even rarer is the appearance of a two-person band with a sound this rich.

Starting with grungy guitars and downright dirty percussion, third single ‘Stop The World’ is like Nirvana without Kurt Cobain’s life-addled voice. The ghostly wails of feedback, however, accompanied by the sombre declaration of ‘I’ll meet you down there’, turn out to be the precursors to an unexpectedly bright chorus; an electric typhoon in which the sighing vocals are almost entirely lost in the dream of which they speak.

Simultaneously dark, light and otherworldly, this bodes well for the forthcoming album.
