The Big Pink: 'Dominoes'
With 'Dominos', The Big Pink have written an anti-love song that, in its ruthless heartlessness, is a match for R.E.M’s 'The One I Love' and its dismantling of the myth of romance.
Having become the centre piece of their live performances, this summer’s festival crowd will be familiar with the song’s blending of heavily treated industrial noise, stadium rock drums and echo-drenched pop vocal, which together create an insidiously catchy pop tune that has a pleasingly twisted dark heart at its centre.
The b-side, 'She’s No Sense', showcases the production duo’s penchant for drone metal, with its 'Kid A'-like drum machine beat, tuneless synthesizers and emotionless vocals.
