Alphabeat: 'The Spell'
Alphabeat are gone - it’s time to meet Alphabeat Version 2.0.
They’ve switched labels, changed a few hair colours and lost that nauseating mushy pop sound that defined their 2008 debut. And they're all the better for it.
New single ‘The Spell’ is pure 90s club beats, coupled with brilliant pop lyrics. It’s almost unbelievable that the track is performed by the same band that gave us the exceptionally cheesy ‘Fascination’. Yes, they will get slagged off for jumping on the same bandwagon as La Roux and Lady Gaga, but can we blame them when they deliver such good electro-pop?
Singer Stine has a voice to be envied for its power and it fits the group's new genre like a glove. Cheesy pop was not her best forte. With such a catchy lead single, can you imagine just how good the album will be?
