The Work Of Director Anton Corbijn
An anthology of work from a lesser-known filmmaker than the Directors Label’s five previous releases, there’s still plenty here to appreciate with over thirty music videos bundled in.
Covering a two-decade period of the Dutch former-photographer’s career, the mostly-recognisable selection kicks off with the likes of Joy Division and Echo And The Bunnymen, moving along to modern-day acts such as Travis and The Killers via 90s rock output from Nirvana and Metallica. While we could have done without quite such an abundance of Depeche Mode vids, ultimately it’s Corbijn striking visual style we’re watching for rather than the music.
Extras: The usual 56-page revealing booklet of photos, original storyboards and doodles.
