Yoav: 'Beautiful Lie'
'Beautiful Lie’ by newcomer Yoav sounds exactly (well exactly-ish) like wobbly-headed troubadour David Gray battering Underworld’s ‘Born Slippy’ to death with an acoustic guitar, whilst New Labour acolytes D:Ream watch on in amazement, as the theme tune to early 90’s BBC cannon fodder Eldorado plays quietly in the background.
The result? An atmospheric, moving and strangely anachronistic track, replete with soaring vocals and heart-rending lyrics which will linger long in the memory. Far better than my tortured comparison above would suggest.
