Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds: 'Dig, Lazarus, Dig!!!'

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds return with their fourteenth studio album and what an album it is! The dark and unsettling narratives get under your skin and it’s impossible to stop listening once you start.

With his trademark sexy growl, Cave overpowers the thought that he’s now in his fiftieth year and swathes in his awesome mixture of preaching shouts and seductive whispers. He tells the tale of all the world going straight to hell, and just how pleasurable that’s going to be. Drawing on inspiration from such subjects as the Bible and Harry Houdini, Cave has created tracks that slither on their dirty bellies into your subconscious. His intellectual but humour-filled lyrics tell of doomed characters, disreputable women and lives lived comfortably in sin.

The brilliant lead single 'Dig, Lazarus, Dig!!!', for example, describes Cave’s take on the Bible story of the resurrection of Lazarus: “We are all, of course, in awe of the greatest of Christ's miracles - raising a man from the dead - but I couldn't help but wonder how Lazarus felt about it. As a child it gave me the creeps, to be honest.”

Highlights include the irresistible sleaze of 'Hold On To Yourself' and the anthemic 'Midnight Man'.

Released on 3rd March 2008 by Mute Records.
