Royworld: 'Dust'

Taken from Royworld's forthcoming debut album 'Man In The Machine', 'Dust' is a hard track to place on the musical barometer. Rod Futrille's unashamedly crooning vocals are shrouded in a mass of delay and reverb, and along with the heavily keyboard-driven melodies they seem to be alluding to mid-80s stadium rock to justify their rather silly yet strangely enjoyable take on modern pop music.

In marked contrast, other aspects of the track, and the band in general, seem to demand a more serious reflection. The song is certainly written and crafted in a very accomplished manner and there is something of The Killers' assured, epic feel that should sit well in the current musical climate.

Released on 19th May 2008 by Virgin.
