The Blakes to support The Wombats on tour

US trio The Blakes return to the UK this month for dates with The Wombats and a couple of shows in the capital. The band will be previewing their debut eponymous album set for release on 14th July 2008.

Garnet Keim (guitar/vocals), brother Snow Keim (bass) and Bob Husak (drums) met in Seattle in 1999 and started to play together, turning up with their instruments wherever there was a chance of a gig, or just a spot to busk. They moved to LA and slept three to a single room whilst writing and continuing to play, refining and producing the sound that they would eventually record for US label Light In The Attic in May 07.

The Blakes made their first trip to Europe earlier this year (after a 4 month long US tour) when they released a 7” single ‘Two Times’ and played several shows. The single was playlisted at XFM and received plays from the likes Zane Lowe and Jonathon Ross. They supported Reverend & The Makers at an NME Awards show (where the magazine said “They knock out their concoction of BRMC riffs and boogie with such power it’s hard to resist”) in London and toured France with Gossip and The Kills. They will be back in the summer and are looking to confirm several festival appearances.
