dEUS: 'Vantage Point'

From a country most famed for it’s waffles, this Belgian rock band has delivered yet another stunning album and gained a whole new wave of younger British fans.

While 'Vantage Point' doesn’t look set to take the crown from their 1999 album 'Then Ideal Crash' in the eyes of the long term fans, it can certainly be considered as a younger brother of this record in the way that it delivers supreme quality and style throughout.

This is their second album release since their four year hiatus, which lasted up until 2004, in which the members pursued their individual projects. They certainly haven’t lost any of their connection or focus over those years, and came back stronger than ever. Whilst they have still kept their original flair, we can certainly see dEUS moving with the times, with 'When She Comes Down' sounding as if it would be completely at home on a Beck album.

The tone of this album can be summed up by one line from 'Eternal Woman'; “I would rather drown with you than watch the surf with someone else.” The choice of 'The Architect' as a single was definitely the right one, as it’s the most upbeat and catchy track from the album, and seems to come at exactly the right time, ready for the summer and into the waiting ears of those yet to be converted.

You can catch dEUS this summer at T In The Park Festival in Blado, Kinross.

Released on 28th April 2008 by V2/Cooperative Music.
