Elliot Minor: 'Parallel Worlds'
‘Parallel Worlds’ seems to refer to some dimension far far away from current musical trends, in which rock music remains unashamedly proud of fast riffs, anathematic keyboards, sing along chorus and cheesy guitar melodies - a sound that only the late 80s seems to have accepted in our present dimension.
There are certainly other bands who share that ideal - Dragon Force with their fast technical guitar wizardry to name but one. However, a refreshing aspect of Elliot Minor’s sound is that whilst far too many of these bands seem to take themselves and their technical accomplishments a tad too seriously, these guys seem to employ a far more tongue-in-cheek attitude.
The short track length (2:55) and the joyous sing-along chorus ensure that whilst a snigger or two may have been had at the operatic orchestral sounds that permeate this track amidst the howling guitars and soaring vocals, many will find enough fun and merriment present here to be endeared to Elliot Minor.
Released on 7th April 2008 by Warner Brothers Records.
