Metronomy: 'Holiday'

So this is the first wave of disjointed, angular sonicism we can expect from Metronomy before their long player hits in the Autumn.

Preceding its (hopefully) infinitely warped bigger brother, this skewed, glitter ball bedraggled taster is another boggling example of chief Metronomer Joe Mount’s ability to skim left field electronica over throbbing bass, and throbbing bass, through itchy melodica.

‘Holiday’ tells a story of insurmountable jealousy to a backdrop of sliding, dropped pitching vocals and disparate rhythms while ‘Let’s Have a Party’ does just that: a plodding number that writhes with heaving melodica and ball-grabbing falsetto. They’ve somehow managed to keep it low key up until now… the Autumn should see their quirky brilliance brought to the masses.

Released on 7th July 2008 by Because Music.
