Alphabeat: '10,000 Nights'
With their endearingly shoddy videos and enjoyable second generation grasp of the English language, Swedish popsters Alphabeat are around a zillion times more interesting than, say, half the new indie acts propping up the UK festival circuit this summer (yes, that means you The Courteeners).
With this zippy little number they go all High School Musical on our ass with a killer chorus that owes as much to pomp-rock favourite Meatloaf as it does to Roxette. Designed to be pumped out of a car stereo on the way to the beach, this is lovely fluffy summery fun that deserves to cross right over into Scissor Sisters-style mainstream adoration.
Released on 26th May 2008 by EMI.
