The Raid: ‘On A Scale’

‘On A Scale’ is a dynamic, stomping little number that rollicks with the tribal drums and visceral guitar that the 22-20s had in their fleeting pomp.

Frontman Adam Robinson emanates so much rock braggadocio, even on CD, that you’d bet your older brother's Stratocaster that he spent more than one Sunday afternoon hollering Oasis songs and dragging his knuckles along the ground. He sneers and snaps every word and it’s, well, invigorating stuff.

Now, every band’s entitled to the odd throwaway lyric and song title, but it’s almost unforgivable when you’re trying to make a mark. Okay, so it’s unashamed swaggering lad rock by numbers, but even as Robinson bites out ‘On a scale from 1-10, I give you a four’ you remember why you stopped drinking Stella and wearing ridiculous Kangol hats. Throwaway lyrics aside, ‘On A Scale’ is healthy dose of brash, straight up blues rock’n’roll.

Released on 28th July 2008.
