Mystery Jets: ‘Half In Love With Elizabeth’
Following the success of their highest charting release so far, ‘Two Doors Down’, Mystery Jets return with a similarly catchy upbeat pop track.
A staccato bass line jauntily hops and skips its way through the track, whilst a cacophony of whoops and semantically devoid utterings occupy the vocal background with any meaningful lyrical content left to repeat the title track ad infinitum. There is a continuation of the vaguely psychedelic, 80s infused sound that has been indicative of their earlier releases through the heavy spattering of sparkly synthesiser embellishments, yet there is something less immediate to the quirky appeal this single has to offer, which may leave one to find themselves slightly less than half in love with this release.
Released on 25th August 2008 by Sixsevenine Records.
