A Camp announce 'Colonia' album

Fronted by Nina Persson from The Cardigans, A Camp will release their new album 'Colonia' on 2nd February 2009, preceded by the single 'Stronger Than Jesus' on 19th January.

A Camp is a collaborative effort between two Swedish musicians: pop star and former figure skater Nina Persson, whose band The Cardigans had seen crazy success in the roaring 90s, and Niclas Frisk, a outdoorsman and explorer who had himself enjoyed pop stardom with his band Atomic Swing.

Recordings for the first (self-titled) A Camp record took place in the Fall, in Woodstock, New York, at the now-defunct Bearsville studio and was released in 2001 in Europe, where it was a considerable success, and a significant hit in Nina and Nic's home territory of Scandinavia. The album was awarded 4 Swedish Grammies, and met with much critical praise abroad and Stateside.

In late 2007, for no particular reason, A Camp regrouped.

The band recorded the follow-up to their 2001 debut in New York last year with help from Persson's husband and soundtrack composer Nathan Larson, drummer Kevin March, Joan Wasser (aka Joan As Police Woman), Swedish singer-songwriter Nikolai Dunger, and former Smashing Pumpkins guitarist James Iha.
