The Season - Who's who?

Launching on 31st October 2009 on BBC Switch on BBC Two, The Season is a reality based television drama that follows the lives and loves of a close group of 18-21 year olds as they head out on a ski season in their gap year.

Filmed in the exclusive Val d’Isere ski resort, the show captures the lives, loves, trials and tribulations of the young seasonnaires as they work and play in the party capital of the Alps.

The series spans ten consecutive weeks, focusing on twelve main characters...


Abi
Abi is the glue that keeps the group together. Our resident gossip girl, she’s the eyes and ears of Val d’Isere. She’s friends with everyone and is always on hand to dish out no nonsense advice to her best friends Holly and Hari – who desperately need it! Abi’s plan was to stay free and single for the season, until she met Jay. Now Abi’s falling for him in a big way, but the last thing on Jay’s mind is settling down, which leaves Abi constantly wondering if they are going to stay together at the end of the ski season.

Tom
Tom is Jay’s best friend and is seeing Hari. He works hard, ski’s hard and plays hard. Tom has always been very quiet about his relationship history, and palms off any attempts from Hari to talk about their future. But it’s no wonder, Hari is a natural flirt and sends mixed messages to Tom without even realising it. Will Tom’s reluctance to open up to Hari push her further into Oscar’s open arms or is this the start of a love triangle? Even the rest of the group can’t predict the ending.

Jay
Jay came out to Val d’Isere to find out he didn’t really like boarding, skiing, cold weather or snow. He’s one of the core members of the group and is in the enviable position of being really popular with both the boys and girls. He doesn’t hold back on what he thinks, which can lead to trouble and he loves to wind people up – especially his best mate Tom.

Oscar
Oscar is every girl’s best friend and every boy’s worst nightmare - he’s hot, he’s a helicopter pilot and he “has girly feelings”. He is very sensitive and is easily wound up by the boys which pushes him closer to the girls and makes the lads even more suspicious of his intentions. But Oscar really doesn’t help him self, he takes everything too seriously and winding him up becomes a hobby for his friend Henry. He spends the whole of the season fighting accusations from Tom that he fancies Hari, only to prove him right when he kisses Hari before leaving the resort early.

Hari
Hari is best friends with Abi and is completely clueless when it comes to relationships. Men fall at her feet but she causes heartache to anyone she attempts to have a relationship with. She spends half the season trying to make things official with Tom, while causing an awkward love triangle with Oscar. Tom and Oscar used to be friends but now can’t stand the sight of each other, and neither hold back their feelings for each, creating constant drama and entertainment for the rest of the cast!

Holly
Holly is gorgeous and is an incredible skier which makes her all the more attractive to guys. Of all the guys in the resort, Holly only had eyes for ski bum Sam and together they became the coolest couple in resort. The only problem in this otherwise flawless relationship is that Sam started going out with Holly before finishing with his ex back at home and neither girl knew about each other…until Holly started to hack into Sam’s Facebook! With a mutual distrust firmly established and regular blazing rows, will this relationship ever see better days?

Sam
Sam is on his second ski season and intends to do seasons until he ‘breaks’ his body. He’d love to be a pro- snow boarder, but this season he’s spending more time chilling with Holly than he is on the slopes. When his boss and mentor, ex-pro boarder Gumby gives his some home truths about his boarding, Sam decides to take action…will there be a struggle between Holly and his aspirations to go pro, and what comes first for Sam?

Emily
Emily works with Abi at a bar/restaurant. Emily and Tommy were going out for eighteen months and came to Val d’Isere together as a couple, but then split up. She says she’s happy just being friends with him, but it’s obvious things aren’t completely over between them.

Tommy
Tommy had originally planned to do his season with the boys, until Emily decided to come along too. Then when they got to resort they did nothing but argue, until Emily called it a day. Tommy still can’t come to terms with the fact that she ended things, and he senses she’s having doubts too.

Alex
Alex, who runs events and does the PR for a major venue is a racing car driver, and is super competitive! He goes out with Jess, a Swedish dancer and is best mates with Henry who came out to the resort with him. He used to see a lot of Holly, until she started seeing Sam.

Henry
Henry lives and works with Oscar at a ski hire company as a driver and they have a love hate relationship. Henry has a habit of winding people up and causing offence and there’s no filter between his brain and his mouth, which earnt him the nickname ‘Arrogant Henry’.

Hanna
19 year old Hanna is everyones best friend, she is the sounding board for Hari, Abi’s and Emily’s often complicated live lives. Hanna offers great, practical advice to the girls, not scared of voicing her opinion she can often put her foot in it, with her straight talking ways and honest opinions...i.e. she tells the truth, which no- one wants to hear!
