Mike “The Situation” (Jersey Shore) interview

Snooki, JWoww, Vinny, Angelina, Sammi, Pauly D, Ronnie and The Situation may not be names that you have heard of right now, but they soon will be! These eight self-confessed ‘Guido’ and ‘Guidettes’ (slang term for Italian-Americans) are the stars of MTV’s latest reality series Jersey Shore and they promise to serve up some outrageously entertaining exploits during their summer living it up by the beach in New Jersey, NY.

Musclebound hunk Mike “The Situation” may have a sensitive side, but he has plenty of game to go with it. He knows what he wants from his summer at the Jersey Shore and is not going to let anything stop him from getting it - even his roommates.

So, tell us -- how did you get on Jersey Shore? How is this show different from all the other reality shows out there?

When I first heard about the idea of the show, I was doing some underwear modeling and I heard through an agent that there were some auditions coming along for a new MTV show that would rival The Hills. When I heard that, I knew that I eventually wanted to be in the business somehow. So, I went to the audition and got it. I don’t know exactly how the other reality shows are, but I know for a fact that all of us are genuinely true friends. I just think that compared to some of the other reality shows, ours is more intense, has more action, more drama than a whole season of other reality shows out there!

OK, so when you walked into the house for the very first time, what were you thinking?

I walked into the house and I was pretty excited and open-minded. I was just ready for everything and waiting to see what could happen.

So, out of everyone in the house – who do you click with the most? Which of your housemates gets on your nerves the most, and why?

I immediately got along with Pauly and became best friends. As far as someone I didn’t like… it was probably Vinny. Only because he was a little more.. I wouldn’t say “immature”… but he was secretly, I believe, pointing the finger like “I didn’t do that!” That’s how he was.

What’s the best part about filming Jersey Shore? What’s the worst/hardest part?

The best part was that everyone got along to a certain extent and that we were all going into it with an open mind. The whole summer was such a blast from start to finish. It was awesome. The worst part was not having a cell phone!

Do you find yourself wishing you didn't say certain things or do something after watching the show?

No, on the show I live life by the moment. I do things and don’t turn back. I have no regrets. That’s how I live.

After Snooki was punched on the boardwalk, it seemed like it brought everyone in the house closer together. Can you tell us more about that?

Everyone had different relationships on the show. At first, Snooki didn’t fit in for a certain reason and some people didn’t get along with her. Once that unfortunate incident occurred, it brought us closer together because we all don’t ever want to see something like that happen.

MTV has announced that the show will return for a second season. What kind of things are we going to see next season?

This upcoming season Is going to be pretty wild. gonna be same ppl as first season and its just going be the same tension. I think its just going to be even crazier this year.

“The Situation” is a pretty interesting nickname. How did you come up with it?

I was walking through a beach club one night with some friends. It was one of those clubs where guys had shorts on and girls were wearing bikinis. I walked by this girl that was holding hands with her boyfriend. She said to her boyfriend, “Oh, honey look” and pointed to my abs. My friends said, “That’s a situation.” So, the name just stuck with me.

You are in great shape in the show. How do you keep a “beach-ready” body all year round?

It’s pretty difficult. I have to work out 5-6 times a week. Cardio 5-6 times a week. Eat healthy, resist temptations. No candy, snacks. It’s the kind of a recipe for “The Situation” and I happen to know that recipe.

You talk a lot on the show about how great you are with the ladies. What kind of tips can you give our readers – boys and girls?

Just be yourself. Be confident. There are so many people out there and there’s someone out there for everyone. If you’re confident with yourself, it works every time. I’m not into giving lines.

You talk a lot about girls, scamming on girls, pulling girls… So, what are some things you look for in a girl?

The first thing that catches my eye is a pretty face. Dark hair or blonde hair… it doesn’t matter. There are so many women out there. It’s really the whole package – the face and the personality. That’s really what it is.

What is “GTL”? When/where did that come from?

“GTL” is something that I coined. It’s sort of my schedule every day that I wake up. I go to the gym, if I need color, I’ll tan, and I’ll do laundry to look good. If you do “GTL”, then you’ll look good and feel good.

So, Jersey Shore is launching internationally and it’s going to be everywhere! Over 60 MTV channels around the world will air it, reaching thousands and thousands of people. How do you feel about that?

I’m so excited. It’s a phenomenon in America. I’m hearing awesome things from people. Everyone that sees the show loves it and is obsessed with it. It’s flattering and its pretty unbelievable. People say that they haven’t seen this reaction since the Beatles… and we’re not singers.

Have you ever been outside of the U.S.? Where have you always wanted to visit and why?

Mexico. I’ve been to Canada to promote the show. I would really like to go to Italy. I love learning about different people and cultures.

What cities or countries do you think have the hottest women? Do you think you’d be able to pull ladies anywhere?

Yes, I think I can pull women anywhere. It’s just a matter of your confidence. If you have confidence with yourself, then you can do it. I look forward to meeting different women. I went to Canada and the girls are beautiful there. I think South America and Spain would have the hottest women out of them all.

Jersey Shore airs on Sundays at 9pm on MTV from 21st March 2010.
