In Your Debt

Saturday 5th June 2010

Zoe makes a life-changing decision while Lenny and Yuki turn detective when another mysterious case of the cryptococcsis virus arrives in the Emergency Department. Indecisive Zoe is putting off starting her fertility treatment. When Jordan catches her sneaking a cigarette outside the ED, he gives her a telling off. She's furious but also terrified that he will discover the truth. Deep down, she knows that she loves him, but is it really the right thing to do?

Shona hits rock bottom, living in a squat with junkies and facing a bleak future as a teenage mum. Turning again to Charlie, she tells him she wants a termination of her pregnancy. Charlie says it's too late and adoption is the only answer. Later, Shona is rushed into the ED having fallen down the stairs. Now Charlie can take drastic action to make her see that she does care about the baby. But Lenny's diagnosis sends her up to intensive care, with the outcome looking bleak for both mother and child.

Lenny and Yuki discover another case of the cryptococcsis virus but they are still unable to trace its source. Still not fully recovered from May's betrayal and dealt another blow when he diagnoses a young and vivacious woman with multiple sclerosis, Yuki's fragile confidence is at a low.

Elsewhere, Ruth's big presentation goes horribly wrong. But when conference organiser and big name doctor Edward takes an interest in her anyway, she's incredibly flattered and a little bit smitten.

Inconvenient Truths

Saturday 12th June 2010

A third victim of the cryptococcsis virus dies and Lenny and Yuki are on a mission to find the source. There's even more trouble in the Emergency Department when a local goth (played by former EastEnder Louisa Lytton) puts a curse on Big Mac and Charlie puts misplaced faith in Shona.

Lenny and Yuki are still searching for the source of the cryptococcsis outbreak. Jordan tells them to leave it to the proper doctors, but Lenny can't let it go. When third victim Cheryl dies, Lenny pursues her boyfriend Cal for answers. Yuki theorises the crypto may have jumped from chickens to humans at a local farm, but when Lenny investigates, he's stonewalled.

In frustration, Lenny warns off parents, sparking a panic. When it turns out the farm isn't the source, Lenny takes another approach. Getting Cheryl's mysterious cheque from Cal, Lenny discovers she was part of a drugs trial. This could have dangerous and wide-ranging implications for the team. Jordan's interest is now absolute.

Charlie gives Shona yet another chance with a temp job in the ED's admin. Shona can't handle the pressure but won't admit it, much to Kirsty's frustration. Goth Grace rubs Shona up the wrong way, so she enters her in the computer's queuing system and then deliberately forgets her. But Shona doesn't bargain on Kirsty's keen eye, putting the two on a collision course. And Grace isn't afraid to stir things up a bit with Big Mac while she's kept hanging around...

The Lesser Good
Saturday 19th June 2010

Jordan faces a moral dilemma as the source behind the cryptococcsis outbreak is revealed, and security is paramount as a dangerous Class-A prisoner is blue-lighted into the Emergency Department.

Jordan prepares to report Robert's involvement in the drug trial which caused the cryptococcsis outbreak but has second thoughts when he realises it could jeopardise the JAFA fellowship and Holby City's Centre of Excellence, which he has worked so hard to establish. He decides to keep it quiet for now, but eager Lenny is still determined to discover exactly who is behind the deaths.

Meanwhile, Class-A prisoner Jackson has been stabbed in prison. Polly and Jeff blue-light him to the ED, accompanied by retiring prison guard Royson, while idealistic young guard Arun travels by car. When Arun's car collides with a lorry, Royson suspects an escape attempt and insists that Jeff attends to Jackson while he drives the ambulance and Polly stays behind with the severely injured young guard.

Jordan reminds the team of the procedure for dealing with Class-A prisoners, including not engaging in conversation or revealing Jackson's identity, but the team find out that Jackson has been convicted for murdering his entire family, including a baby. As Adam treats Jackson, the prisoner plays a game of psychological cat and mouse. Can Adam keep his cool and work out the mystery behind Jackson's injury? And can it in some way help him come to terms with his own loss?

Reflecting on his earlier conversation with Robert, Jordan scours the drug trial notes to try to work out which patients received the dangerous drug and which received the placebo. But when Jordan discovers that not even Robert knows which patients received which, he makes the startling realisation that one of the Holby ED team could be in mortal danger...

Die And Let Live
Saturday 26th June 2010

Jay is in for an enormous shock when he realises that his life could be at risk following the recent drugs trial. When Jordan informs him that he could be in mortal danger if he doesn't take the placebo in the drugs trial, Jay is shocked. Jordan promises to fast-track the blood test results, but Jay is aware that the clock is ticking. Treating Eileen, an older lady with diabetes, Jay empathises with her sadness at suffering alone. He is distraught when she dies unexpectedly and, unable to express his fear to his mates (who are running a book on which staff member is at risk) he tries to seek solace with Ruth. But she is too preoccupied to devote time to him.

Distracted all day, Ruth receives a mysterious package containing a gold locket. She begs Adam for time off work for personal reasons, leaving the Emergency Department with a garment bag in a chauffeur-driven car.

Jay is elated when his test results prove negative. Jordan tells him that he has been given a second chance in life. Jordan also drops into the conversation that Ruth is planning to get married today. Resolving to win her back, Jay races through the streets of Holby to find Ruth at the register office, where he pleads his undying love. Is he in time?

Meanwhile, Kirsty gets on the wrong side of Tess when she misguidedly helps a young girl who isn't all she claims to be. Further bad behaviour from Shona leads to Charlie showing her the door – will she be able to appeal to his good nature once more?
