Casualty: July 2009 - Episode guide

Find out what's coming up in July for the Casualty staff in this month's visits to Holby's Emergency Department!

Saturday 4th July 2009

Ruth lets slip to Sarah Evans that she is no longer seeing Dr Faldren, as the medical drama continues. However, she is forced to make amends when Sarah tells her that her relationship worked in her favour with the Board. Ruth calls on Jay for help, who reluctantly stifles his anger and helps her consolidate her position.

Big Mac is targeted by the Malones, who attack him while he is on his daily patrol. Rescued by a local football team, he is unaware that the Malones are still watching.

Jordan, meanwhile, has resolved to start treatment and makes arrangements to cover his post while he is away. However, his first choice, Adam, is distracted by Jessica's absence and Zoe is incensed that Jordan is trying to cover up his illness and refuses to be complicit in his lie.

Saturday 11th July 2009

Jordan receives the news that his tumour may be operable. He contemplates the risks and asks himself whether he would want to live with the kind of brain damage that may take place. Zoe, meanwhile, makes a clinical mistake in resuscitation and endangers a life. Jordan decides to take the blame.

Jessica returns from Saudi following a successful trip. To her surprise, Adam is furious with her for using his son as bait. However, a difficult case makes him realise how important Jessica and the children are to him.

Later, Curtis asks Jeff to be his best man, but Jeff's recent experience of divorce has left him bitter and he turns the invitation down. However, a prank involving ideas for an alternative stag party makes him reconsider his decision.

Saturday 18th July 2009

When Adam learns of Jordan's supposed mistake, and of the road traffic collision that Jordan has been involved in, he is sick at the thought that he has been covering for him. Henry offers him promotion to clinical lead but, unable to deal with the guilt, Adam turns it down.

It is the first day of Ruth's surgical rotation and she is given a tough job – to amputate a leg to save a life. Out in the field with Jay, she is nearly overwhelmed by the life-or-death responsibility but Jay gently coaxes her through it.

Meanwhile, it's Alice and Curtis's hen and stag nights. Curtis goes to look for Big Mac and finds him with a gun in his flat – too afraid to go out. His flat has been vandalised by the Malones. Curtis convinces Big Mac to leave, but when he gets a call saying that Tony has been released from prison, he doubles back to get the gun.

Saturday 25th July 2009

An armed Curtis arrives at Tony's but is shocked to find he has been murdered, in the first episode of a two-part story. Realising he will be the prime suspect, Curtis runs from the scene but is spotted by a witness. Alice agrees to go on the run with him but, as the pair try to escape, Curtis accidentally injures one of DI Moreland's officers. He stays to stabilise her but flees before the police can arrest him. Now, the stakes are even higher.

Back at the Emergency Department (ED), meanwhile, Jessica is thrilled at confirmation that Adam is Harry's father but furious when she discovers Adam has called Sean to make peace for the sake of Amelia and Lucas – she just can't forgive Sean for taking her children.

Elsewhere, Big Mac and Noel gather Farmead volunteers and bundle them on to a coach headed for the ED, as they prepare to rehearse for a big terrorist attack. However, a speeding car doesn't see the coach and causes an accident.

It's Jordan's last day, but his plans to make a swift exit are disrupted and he accidentally costs Adam the post of clinical lead. Jordan also finds Zoe and, as they say their farewells, it's clear there is still something between them. However, before Jordan can leave, he is called back into the ED when the coach crash causes chaos.
