As opens the front door she finds an effigy of herself stabbed with pins and a note saying ‘Go Now’ on the doorstep. Angela Lombard (60s), Emily’s housekeeper, is concerned for her when she realises she’s slept in her car again. She makes her tea and biscuits as Emily discusses making some changes to the décor. They’re interrupted by a brick crashing through the front door with another note attached to it. Angela wants Emily to call the police but she resists and begins to cough. Angela insists she must at least see a doctor. Emily goes to see Daniel who’s surprised to discover she’s a Vicar. He diagnoses a chest infection and in reception Angela approaches him and thanks him for his help when the previous vicar was ill. Angela can’t believe Emily told him nothing of the attacks.

Later Angela returns to the Campus armed with biscuits and the effigy and tells Daniel what Emily has been going through. Daniel arrives at the rectory but Angela tries to deter him from seeing Emily, but she comes through and invites him in. He returns the effigy Angela left at the Campus and thinks Emily should call the police and consider a move to another Parish. Emily refuses. Angela tries to get Daniel to leave but Emily offers him some of Angela’s biscuits. As Angela makes a grab for the plate, a hooded man throws eggs at the window. Emily suddenly vomits. Angela is shocked to see Emily so ill. Daniel notices the pins in Angela’s sewing tin are similar to those in the effigy and he makes her reveal she’s responsible for the hate campaign. Angela says she’s not alone in the Parish in her belief that the pulpit is no place for a woman. Angela has given Emily rat poison - all she wanted was to make Emily go away.
