When they get there loud music is blaring out and the front door is open. Ruth finds Marcus in a dishevelled state pacing the room and the place is a mess. Zara snorts with laughter as she listens to the broadcast as she gets ready for work. Derek and Mitsy are promoting their new drop in relationship clinic. Felicity probes Derek about a former girlfriend he mentions in the book. Zara’s interest is piqued when Derek describes her as a doctor who was scared of intimacy and self centred.

He hangs up and Zara boils with anger. She ropes in a reluctant Simon to pose with her as a couple, and they go to the love clinic. Derek’s smile evaporates when he sees Zara. Simon surprises Zara by really getting into the role playing and she quotes Derek’s words back at him. Zara tells Mitsy she slept with Derek and Mitsy lunges at her. Zara apologises and claims she never knew Derek was married. Zara thinks Mitsy has a lot to learn about men, and that her idea of the happy ever after belongs in fairytales not in real life. Derek apologises to Simon for sleeping with his wife and Simon confesses Zara isn’t his wife. Furious that he has been setup Derek pleads with Mitsy to start again. Defiant she refuses to let them deny her the fairytale she wants and leaves. The experience gives her food for thought and she later steels herself as she starts to read the self help book.
Julia arrives to find Karen taking a personal call at the desk; she hangs the phone up on her. Alexis Ford (45) enters and observes the two women arguing. Julia introduces Alexis to Karen; she is a business consultant Julia has hired to help improve efficiency. Julia bemoans to Alexis the trouble she sometimes has dealing with Karen. Alexis surprises Julia when she stands up for Karen.
Alexis tells Julia she must trust her methods and presents her with a red nose. Alexis thinks her staff will respond in a more productive way if they see Julia as less of a threat. Alexis lays down the gauntlet. Julia calls Karen into her office and she struggles to control her laughter when she sees Julia wearing the red nose. Alexis gets the two women to tell each other the truth about what irritates them about the other.
Neither women hold back, resulting in Karen stropping out, and Julia turning on Alexis and throwing her out. On the way out, Alexis tries to tell Karen how to do her job in a more productive way.
