Back at Butlers, Adam and John are talking about Holly when Hannah raises the alarm that Holly is missing. The family frantically check out her usual haunts, desperate to find their junkie daughter but to no avail. Meanwhile, Holly is trawling the streets, latching on to any man she passes and is finally led by the hand through a doorway down a dark alley.

Later, as Bob and Hazel are driving home from hospital they pass a slumped Holly on the street and take her home. Worse for wear, Holly’s blasé attitude angers her parents as they question how she got the money. She shamefully confesses there are ways to get money and the awful truth sinks in as they realise Holly sold herself for drugs.

With Marlon out to win back Rhona’s heart, a frank conversation with his best bud sets him straight. Paddy explains Rhona has admitted she simply doesn’t love him any more and there’s no going back. With his own feelings on hold, Paddy comforts Marlon and his broken heart and the boys hit Hotten on the look out for lurve!

Chas smoothly senses an opportunity to strike again and slips Carl’s office keys into her pocket as she tells him she’s going out with the girls when he lies about working late again. Later, Charity and Chas are amused when flustered Carl reveals his computer files have all disappeared. Oblivious, Carl is sick when Eve reveals she’s made plans so can’t see him tonight. Calling on Chas, he lies he’ll cancel the job if she fancies staying in with him instead but sussing his game she smugly refuses.

Cain gives Ryan no choice but to return to work and thrusts him back into village life. In the pub, Cain threatens Nathan to stay away when he smugly offers to buy Ryan a drink.

As Paddy heads in to work with a banging headache, he’s forced to admit to Rhona that he was out on the town with Marlon last night. However, their conversation is cut short when a mysterious woman arrives looking for Paddy. Clear that Paddy pulled last night, he awkwardly offers to take Sophie for a drink much to Rhona’s disappointment. Following them into the pub, Rhona is upset to hear them make plans to see each other again.

Back at the vets, and unable to ignore her feelings any longer, Rhona questions Paddy’s game, sure he’s doing it to mask his true feelings. As Rhona opens her heart and tells Paddy how she really feels, but will Paddy reciprocate?

Fretting about the new lows their daughter has sunk to, John and Moira are distracted by a noise. They find Holly riffling through the medicine cabinet, desperate for something to take. In sheer desperation, and convinced the clinic is doing very little to help Holly, John decides the only way to save his daughter is to take drastic action. As Moira holds her frail daughter tight, John and Adam fit a bolt to her bedroom door. With her mobile confiscated, the door bolted and their fragile junkie daughter locked inside, John and Moira can only pray they are doing the right thing.

With everyone rallied round Jackson’s bedside, Chas’ arrival is a welcome break for Aaron who is feeling uneasy in Jerry’s company. Maintaining a brave face, Aaron admits he’s doing ok but their conversation is interrupted by a buoyant Hazel who explains Jackson’s been cleared of any head injuries and will be moved to the spinal unit. Delighted the news is a step in the right direction, Aaron presents Jackson with a can of lager to celebrate. In better spirits, Jackson jokes it had better be cold as Aaron offers him a straw to sip through. The news appears to have given everyone a much needed boost.

Declan goads Nathan at the lack of interest in buyers for Home Farm. Lizzie outs Viv’s feelings for Bob.

The tension is taut between Rhona and Paddy and as a call out comes in, Paddy is quick to jump at the chance to leave. Passing Lisa on his return, she suggests that Rhona be the one to go next time as her moods are driving the customers away. Pained to hear Rhona is struggling, Paddy asks her talk. As he finally acknowledges the chemistry between them, Rhona is setting herself up for rejection but Paddy confesses she’s gorgeous and pulls her in for a kiss. Immediately feeling disloyal to Marlon, Paddy pulls back. Rhona insists she and Marlon are over but Paddy refuses to betray his friend, even if that means denying his true feelings. Heartbroken, Rhona’s forced to accept Paddy’s loyal decision.

Hazel remains positive but Jackson is unsure he should be hoping for miracles. Aaron’s grateful when Adam offers to go with him to the hospital tomorrow when Jackson has his surgery.

Hannah’s had a sleepless night listening to Holly sob in the room next door. Knowing the situation is going to get worse before it gets better, and worrying about the effect this is having on their youngest daughter, Moira confides in Diane who offers to home Hannah until Holly is better. Feeling guilty for abandoning their youngest but accepting it’s the best thing for her.

Viv resorts to drastic measures to get Bob’s attention and empties the till at the shop, pretending the thief has been back. Jai gives Charity a proposition that means screwing over her own.

Aaron, Hazel, Jerry and Adam rally round Jackson’s beside as he awaits his operation. Hazel attempts to keep the mood light-hearted but when doctors arrive to take Jackson to surgery the atmosphere becomes sombre and everyone is left to say their goodbyes. As they await on Jackson’s return Adam attempts to get a subdued Aaron to talk but his reluctance is obvious. With no sign of Jackson, Aaron starts quizzing anyone that walks past, anxious to know he’s ok. Moments later, Jackson is returned to his room but the consultant bares no news. They are told to wait until Jackson comes round and so the waiting game agonisingly continues.

With Nathan’s attempts to generate interest in Home Farm going amiss, Maisie questions his motives to turn down Declan’s previous offer. Assuring his sister it would be the last thing their father would have wanted, Nathan continues on his quest to find a buyer. Sensing the urgency to sell, Declan makes a 2nd offer to Nathan; an offer lower than the first. Goading he’s the only interested party, Declan quips his offers will get lower every time Nathan rejects it. Later, a suited and booted Nathan smugly passes a curious Declan explaining he has a very important business meeting to attend.

As Paddy and Rhona try unconvincingly to act as if nothing happened the previous day, the tension is palpable. Paddy feels increasingly guilty towards his best mate and when Marlon pops by to check he’s ok, Marlon misreads the awkwardness for worry about Jackson and tells Paddy he’ll always be there for him should he ever need to talk.

Amy returns to greet Val and Victoria, assuring them it’s a day trip because school is closed. Viv accuses Bob of not taking her fears seriously.

As the consultants carry out reflex tests on Jackson, his family and friends wait outside for news on the results. Jackson’s raw anxiety is evident as the consultant asks if he can feel the pin he places against his body. Jackson fights back tears of disappointment as it becomes clear he can’t feel anything, but he consultant denies it means anything at such an early stage.

Frustrated there are still no answers, Hazel tracks down the consultant and begs him for confirmation, she forces him to admit that it’s looking highly likely that Jackson will remain paralysed from his shoulders down. Bereft, Hazel agonises about how she’s going to deal her own child such a crushing blow but Aaron steels he’ll be the one to do it. As Aaron struggles to tell Jackson he’ll never walk again, Jackson’s world collapses as his worst fears are confirmed.

A smug Nathan arrives in the Woolpack greeting Maisie with the news he’s found a buyer for Home Farm and he’s there to celebrate. A little despondent, Maisie questions if Nathan has even met the buyer but he insists this is the way big businesses operate and continues to down the champagne with an indulgent Alicia. Simmering at Nathan’s glory, Ryan leaves. Wound up, Nathan follows him out, just in time to see Ryan smash his car window. Nathan’s furious, but Maisie orders him to let it go. Nathan simmers as Ryan heads off amused.

Marlon comes round to clear the air with Rhona, she’s relieved at his maturity glad they haven’t lost their friendship…yet. Later in the pub however, Rhona confesses to Ryan and Andy that she’s thinking it might be time to move on. When Paddy and Marlon arrived, Rhona finds it too hard to stay in the pub with them both, and heads out.

Val appears torn when Amy heads home after her day in the village. Bob falls for Viv’s false concern and agrees to stay another night.

At the spinal unit, the atmosphere is awkward as Aaron attempts to make small talk with a despondent Jackson. Noting Jackson seems miles away, Aaron’s taken aback when Jackson snaps that it’s pretty obvious. As the boys sit in silence, a nurse arrives to carry out a personal hygiene task. Full of humiliation at Aaron seeing just how much help he needs, Jackson’s overcome with rage and demands Aaron get out. Outside his room and shaken, Aaron is comforted by the nurse who assures him Jackson’s actions are completely natural and this is a journey for the family, not just Jackson.

Finding the courage to return, Aaron tries to make light of the situation and jokes Jackson should stop feeling sorry for himself. Incredulous, Jackson tells Aaron to leave but adamant he’ll wait, Aaron is left dumbfounded as Jackson spits he holds him fully responsible. Floored to hear the words, Aaron’s rocked as Jackson tells him he never wants to see him again.

Watching on as Marlon comforts Paddy over the latest Jackson news, Rhona agonises over what to do aware more than ever she could never come between the two friends. Nursing her own broken heart, Laurel catches Rhona and jokily asks her to keep the hamster swap a secret. When Laurel asks how things are with Rhona. She confesses she’s toying with leaving, Laurel’s shocked to learn the real reason behind Rhona’s move. Passing Paddy in the street, Laurel can’t help but mention Rhona’s plans and Paddy’s aghast, will Paddy convince Rhona to stay?

As Debbie is laden down with bags from the taxi, Cain calls over, thrilled to see her back. Curious to the rather sudden return, Cain quizzes her motives but Andy’s arrival is a welcome distraction for Debbie as she explains they’ve just got back. Aware Debbie has a lot of catching up to do, Andy offers to take Sarah leaving her to start unpacking at Tug Ghyll. Hearing the news her daughter was home, Charity pays her a visit and soon has her spilling the beans on her adventure over a drink in the Woolpack. Finally fessing up, Debbie admits that her boss had tried it on with her but she declined his advances and told him where to stuff it.

A smug Nathan goads Declan, knowing the sale of Home Farm is nearly complete.
