Monday 29th November 2010
Declan is excited to show off his bachelor pad but is uneasy that Ella is being so elusive over transferring the house. Alicia arrives at the party looking stunning and he quickly makes a beeline for her. As they flirt, he moves in for a kiss but as mid-clinch, Declan hears a familiar voice and pauses to see Ella and his daughter Mia have arrived.
Shocked at their unexpected return, Declan questions what Ella’s up to but she avoids his questions and continues to enjoy the party, while Mia enjoys winding up Alicia. Later, he’s floored when Ella finally reveals they’ve got no plans to go back to Singapore – she’s staying. Whether he likes it or not, they work well together – he just needs to give them a chance.
John is relieved to see Holly is sleeping and tells Moira how glad he is that she went to the clinic yesterday for advice, they can now see the light at the end of the tunnel. Later, Moira is out when Roz pops in. She assures John she is totally clean and wants to help her mate. Holly is more lucid than before and Roz is struck to see her so fine and asks if she’s back on methadone. Moira arrives back and asks Roz to leave, but its clear Roz is suspicious about Holly’s behaviour. Will she suss Moira?
Leyla is annoyed she and David have been landed with babysitting Jacob again and after overhearing a tense phone call earlier, she demands to know what Alicia and Justin were rowing over. Alicia explains he wants Jacob at Christmas and when Leyla agrees that it is fair, she adds that he has a new woman. She’s happy for him to have access but not on his terms.
Nikhil is a huge support for Maisie in her time of need, but it’s clear he wants to be more. Henshall is in the pub again and invites himself along as Katie’s date to Declan’s party. As the party is in full swing, he moves in for a kiss and Katie responds clearly smitten.
Tuesday 30th November 2010
Mia arrives back at her car to find Cain has blocked her in and is refusing to move. When she pulls out her wallet asking what its worth, Cain approaches and she pulls him towards her, knees him in the balls and takes his keys –making it clear she’s not one to be messed with.
Meanwhile, Declan is in the pub with Ella and Jai and determined to prove he isn’t going to put his life on hold, he begins flirting with Alicia and arranges to pick up where they left off last night. Ella plays it cool but it’s clear she feels a prickle of jealousy.
Moira is determined to wean Holly of the heroin and gives her a ration for the day. However, when Roz calls round again, she’s instantly aware Holly’s on something and asks where she got it. Moira asks her to leave, but Roz pleads with Adam to trust her and when he angrily confronts Holly, Moira is forced to admit the truth to her horrified son. Adam is disgusted, but Moira insists that she’s doing it out of her love for Holly and begs Adam not to tell his father. Adam is torn,
Leyla is angry when Justin turns up and reveals Alicia has lied about him having a new girlfriend. Alicia admits she’s insecure about Justin trying to buy Jacob with fancy gifts but Leyla reassures her she’s a good mum and asks her to think about a compromise on xmas day.
Maisie is grateful for all Nikhil’s help and support over the past weeks and admits she was foolish to let him go – they kiss. Hazel reluctantly agrees to rescue Bob from a dinner with Viv.
Wednesday 1st December 2010
Adam trusts Moira to keep her word and although Holly feels guilty after an emotional chat with John, her need for a fix is increasing and Moira can’t bear to see her in pain. Giving Holly the last of the wrap, she’s terrified when Adam and John come upstairs and Holly spills it over the carpet in the panic. They don’t suspect anything but John feels they’ve moved on a step and wants to take the bolt off Holly’s door.
Agreeing to a compromise, they leave the room but Holly is in distress about the lost fix and despite her promise to Adam, Moira can’t bear to see her suffering. Feeling like an addict herself, she goes. But, when the police pull her over for a routine pre –xmas drink driving inspection, they sense her anxiety and when she’s forced to turn out her pockets she’s arrested for possession.
Ella invites Alicia to have breakfast after spending the night with Declan but it’s too awkward and she makes her excuses, telling Declan she had fun but his home life is too weird. Declan assures Ella he’s only just begun having fun and he doesn’t intend to stop soon. Elsewhere, Adam takes an instant shine to flirty and feisty Mia when he catches her wandering round the estate and fails to tell her he’s seeing Scarlett.
Aaron’s shocked when Paddy confides Rhona’s pregnant but is happy to discover there is still a place for him at Smithy. Nikhil’s made up when Maisie doesn’t regret last night but she insists they take it one day at a time. Bob’s thrown when Viv invites herself on his outing with the kids to see Santa.
Thursday 2nd December 2010
John panics when he finds Holly agitated in her room and Adam is deeply uneasy as he tells John he thinks he knows why she’s so fraught and so desperate for her mum. At the police station, ashamed Moira is unable to face her family and calls Diane. She tells the truth but the officers emphasise the seriousness of her crime – possession with intent to supply. Back at the house, Adam tells John it’s not a lapse, its fresh withdrawal – he thinks Moira’s gone to score for Holly.
Marlon is busying himself with work but needing to unburden he tells Diane the whole truth about the baby. Rhona gets wind of the fact people know and furiously states he had no right to tell anyone.
Declan makes sure Ella feels she’s invading his space and is under the impression they’ll soon get bored and leave. However, he’s out at a meeting when his new furniture arrives and Ella and Mia look on in horror at the 1980s playboy look he’s gone for. Ella mischievously sends it all back well aware Declan’s going to hit the roof.
Viv is annoyed when Hazel turns up on their outing to the grotto, and Bob is worried Viv is enjoying his company too much. Aaron feels guilty and resentful when Hazel has a dig at him for forgetting Jackson so quickly. Hazel is surprised when Gerry suggests Jackson live with him.
John is floored by Adam’s revelation and is cut to the core by Moira’s betrayal and unleashes his rage on Adam. At the station Moira is relieved to have been released with a caution and admits to Diane she’s been feeding Holly’s habit to try save her but she knows it can’t go on. She begs Diane to be her alibi, but when she arrives home to her distraught family she knows the game is up.
John angrily demands she hand over the drugs but Moira is lost for words and tells him there are no drugs. When Diane backs her up, John turns on Diane for lying but Moira steps in and admits the police took the drugs – she was arrested. As the family look on aghast, furious John walks out unable to cope any longer – he loves them all but he can’t do this anymore.
Marlon snaps that Rhona has no right to lecture him after what she’s done and Rhona is aware he’s right. She softens and assures him he can still be involved if he wants to be – he’s the one putting the barrier up. Marlon tells her he’s wanted children for years – but not like this! Rhona admits it’s not ideal but he can still be a dad. He’s adamant he wants nothing to do with the whole mess, she’s made him look a fool and she’s destroyed his friendship with Paddy - he isn’t the father and he never will be.
Declan arrives back and is furious to discover Ella’s cancelled his furniture order. Mia assures him Ella has saved him from himself and ordered lovely new furniture for the house and so they don’t have to live in a playboy mansion, but Declan is exasperated and orders his furniture back. He goes to Holdgate to vent about Ella but Jai and Nikhil think he protests too much and aren’t convinced their old spark has been extinguished just yet.
Gerry explains his plans for Jackson to move in with him but Jackson tells him he doesn’t think it’ll work. Gerry’s hurt but as he goes Jackson can’t believe he thinks that will make up for his past behaviour. Jackson doesn’t want to be a burden but Hazel is adamant she will care for him. Viv’s gutted when Bob rejects her offer of a drink at home.
Friday 3rd December 2010
John has spent the night in his Landrover and is refusing to talk to Moira. Meanwhile, Holly is terrified as she heads back to withdrawal but Moira can’t help her and is at a loss as to what to do. When John arrives home full of anger, he calls Holly down and tells Moira he has a wrap – he wants to know what’s so great abut heroin that it’s destroyed his family.
He tells Holly to set it up for him and they’ll share it, but she refuses. He asks which she loves more- her family or the heroin. Holly is honest as she tells him she loves them, but he’s heartbroken to see how much she needs that wrap. He breaks down in tears as he tells her they’ll take it together, but the sight of her dad crumbling is too much for Holly and she throws it away and hugs her sobbing father.
Buoyed by Bob helping her bring in a Christmas tree, Viv looks forward to having Christmas dinner together but is upset to discover he’s planning to have Christmas dinner with Hazel. Viv guilt trips Bob into changing his plans and Hazel warns him not to get caught up in her emotional blackmail.
Mia takes her dad’s car out and offers Adam a ride, while in the pub Ella can’t resist firing barbed comments at Alicia. After Declan bemoans his wayward daughter, Ella tells Mia to be careful: if they want to stay Declan’s going to have to like having them around.
Jackson tells his mum he doesn’t want to be a burden to her, she has her own life – just like Aaron does. Hazel insists she loves him and he won’t ever be a burden. He accepts but there’s a sense he wishes the same could be said of Aaron. Pearl’s thrilled about Rhona’s baby news.
