Monday 6th December 2010

Terry pulls Bob up after he’s blunt towards Viv, but Bob is adamant that she needs to move on. Terry, however, feels for Viv and offers to look after the shop while she has a few hours to herself. Viv accepts and goes shopping, but whilst unloading her bags, she accidently pulls the car boot door on her head. Bleeding and upset, she sees Bob and on the spot makes up the lie that she has been mugged.

Everyone’s shell-shocked after last night and John and Moira decide to take Holly back to the clinic and get her back on methadone. Holly is determined to work through it this time and there’s a sense she hates herself for what she’s done. John admits it better be a turning point as he’s not sure if they’ll be able to survive another lapse. Moira reminds him, they were at odds in the early days but managed to pull together, they’ll have to do it again – they can only do this together. Holly, Moira and John decorate the tree together.

It’s a bittersweet moment for Jackson and Hazel when he’s moved into a wheelchair. Although relieved to be out of bed, they’re reminded of the seriousness of his disability and his absolute helplessness. Jerry arrives at the hospital and offers Hazel a cheque to help with the costs but it’s not much and tempers flare up again. They call a truce but Hazel is still worried about affording accommodation, until Declan kindly offers to let her have Dale Head at a token rent.

Mia is less than enthused with her hairnet and overalls when Declan arranges a packing job for her at Jai’s factory. Maisie worries that Will is still depressed about Nathan, but is grateful when Nikhil helps cheer him up.

Tuesday 7th December 2010

Hazel is upset when she informs Aaron about Dale Head and he merely shrugs he’s fine with it. Later, she gives Jackson the good news, but she’s shocked to hear him say he’s not going back - it’s not his home anymore and he wants a fresh start where no-one pities him. Arriving back in the village, she pointedly tells Aaron that Jackson won’t come back and as her anger bubbles up she shouts that Jackson only pushed him away to give him an escape route.

Aaron rails at Hazel and storms off, but Paddy knows he’s burying his real feelings again. Despite his turmoil, Aaron heads to Bar West and tries to make an effort when a lad introduces himself. Realising instantly it doesn’t feel right, he walks out of the bar and goes to the hospital. The atmosphere is awkward between the two boys and when Aaron asks if Jackson would stay in the village if he wanted him to, Jackson insists they’ve been through this – Aaron’s still got his life and he shouldn’t stick with him out of guilt.

Aaron admits he couldn’t handle it and he let himself be pushed away, but he’s realised he doesn’t want freedom he wants him. Jackson bluntly outlines the reality of his life now – no dignity, no independence. Aaron claims he knows all that and that’s why he wont let him leave. Tearful he promises not to let him down again, he knows he’s been a coward. Emotionally fragile, Jackson agrees to take it one step at a time.

Viv tries to capitalise on Bob’s sympathy post-mugging but her attempts at seduction are rebuffed. She’s further annoyed when she sees Bob give Hazel a friendly hug, and it’s Terry who turns up to fix her locks. Terry cuts his hand on the job and whilst looking for a plaster finds the house keys Viv had said were stolen. He confronts her and she admits she faked the mugging to get Bob’s attention. Terry agrees to keep it a secret and tries to convince her not to feel so lonely: she has people who care about her in the village.

Chas summons Gennie, Eve and Charity to the house to show them the bridesmaid dresses. Sharing a private look with Charity, Chas presents the dresses and its clear she’s chosen the most hideous specimens she could find. Trying to keep a straight face, she claims they’re exactly what she wanted.

Sam’s worried when he gets a letter saying Samson may be dyslexic. Charity continues to let Jai think she’s working on Lisa and Zak so that she still gets paid.

Thursday 9th December 2010

Hazel is thrilled when Aaron reveals he and Jackson have patched things up and he’s committed to him, however Paddy still has his doubts. He questions if Aaron’s sure he knows what he’s doing – this is a huge commitment. Later, Aaron and Jackson escape from the hospital and head to Bar West. Jackson feels pitying eyes are on him and worries he’s not ready to face the world yet. With renewed determination he heads in and although he’s conscious all eyes are on him, he tries his best to enjoy himself. When they return to the spinal unit Jackson breaks down as he’s hit by the reality of his life now. Distraught and feeling helpless, Hazel rashly promises her son he’ll be in his new home in time for Christmas.

Chas starts to feel guilty about the sham wedding, especially when Lisa laments the wedding will be the first family occasion without Shadrach. She feels wretched when Zak approaches her in the pub and tells her he’d be honoured to give her away, he wont let her or Shad down. Steeped in guilt that her wedding is a sham, Chas is uneasy to learn Carl’s kids are going to be there now too and can’t face making them witness her humiliating their dad. Is the real cost of her revenge too much for her?

Bob and Lizzie do their best to try and lift Marlon’s spirits but he’s down in the dumps and just wants to be left to wallow in his sorrows. When he rejects Bob and Lizzie’s plan for a night in on the x-box, Lizzie has another idea and Marlon’s shocked when he arrives home to find Paddy in the living room with the x-box and a pizza.

Marlon is awkward and claims pizza won’t stop him being angry, but he can’t help but smile when he’s faced with the little things that make their friendship. As Paddy apologises, it’s clear his words are heartfelt and he appeals to Marlon to tell him what to do – he can’t bear to think Marlon won’t be a dad to his own kid. Marlon asks him if he does genuinely love Rhona and he confirms he does but needs his blessing. Marlon doesn’t respond there’s a sense they seem to have made some ground.

Jai catches Charity out when Lisa tells him she’s not interested, but Charity persuades him to keep trusting her. Lisa is fed up with Wishing Well freezing up over winter. Viv goes to Terry and Viv’s for a dinner party and Brenda is unenthused when he invites her to spend xmas day with them.

Friday 10th December 2010

Chas is worried about the number of people who’ll be caught in the crossfire at the wedding and is only interested in hurting Carl and Eve, but as she and Carl hand out the invites, she knows there’s no going back. She feels terrible when Carl arranges to go to Wishing Well for dinner and tries to cancel, but Carl won’t have it and insists on going. As he makes a heartfelt speech at dinner and Zak welcomes him to the family, Chas feels wretched, but is sure she’s sensed a change him.

Paddy and Marlon sit together in the café and although it’s awkward, their old banter returns to disguise the deeper issue. When they realise the secret about Rhona is out, Paddy assures him his friendship means the world to him and Marlon accepts. Later, when Rhona tells him she has a scan tomorrow, he suggests asking Marlon to come along. Marlon tells her he hasn’t changed his mind but gives his blessing for Paddy to go.

Charity gets Jai to agree to a £10k sweetener to get the Dingles to agree to the deal. Charity explains it to Lisa and muses they could really do with the money and its clear Lisa is tempted as she tells Zak home is wherever they make it.

Hazel is determined to get the Dale Head ready for Jackson in time for Christmas but there is a lot of work to be done. Viv sees Terry and asks if he’s only keeping her close to save Bob from her. But Terry assures her he genuinely enjoyed her company but he’s worried she’s still carrying a torch for Bob. She assures she’s trying to move on and is touched by Terry’s concern.
