New registrar Greg Douglas arrives on Darwin Ward - to Elliot's surprise. Greg's idea that paediatrics patient Ben could have his life-saving operation straight away in America makes Elliot question his chosen course.
Jac is determined to crack a complicated medical case and show that she's a lone operator, so she's frustrated when she realises that she and Sacha make a good, if unlikely, team.
Linden discovers Faye is pregnant. Faye explains to him that she is unsure who the father is. Although disappointed, Linden sticks by her – but she needs to tell Joseph.
Cross My Heart
Tuesday 8th June 2010
Greg and Joseph are sent to retrieve a heart for a transplant, but once they arrive at the hospital it soon becomes apparent that all is not well. Greg questions the circumstances regarding the death of the transplant patient, jeopardising the entire procedure and his future at Holby.
When Elaine dies, Connie wants to make peace with Kevin but she's convinced that he only wants revenge. Nevertheless, Kevin rescues her from being attacked by an ex-patient's relative in her office, but Connie's hopes of reconciliation are dashed by Kevin's subsequent character assassination of her. For the first time in her life, Connie pulls herself out of an operation and turns to Greg for comfort.
Elsewhere, Faye informs Joseph that she is pregnant and that he is the father, not Linden, but Joseph reacts badly to the news, accusing Faye of just wanting financial support.
Thursday's Child
Tuesday 15th June 2010
Faye learns she is expecting a boy and finds herself caught between Joseph and Linden's opposing views on a Chorionic Villus Sampling test. A CVS test will determine if the child will suffer from any disabilities, and there is a 50 per cent chance with a boy. When her attempts to keep the peace fail, she lays down the law to them both – this is her baby and it's her decision.
When Penny rebuffs Oliver's peace offering, he decides to show her that he can be bloody-minded too and sends a patient of hers back to the Acute Assessment Unit. When Connie discovers that their sibling rivalry is compromising patient care, an ashamed Penny and Oliver agree to patch up their differences.
In their final Relate session, Annalese tells Michael that she thinks their marriage is over. Michael tries to change Annalese's mind but is interrupted when their counsellor has a heart attack. Michael and Annalese work together to save his life, but Annalese fails to show up at the hospital later to meet Michael.
Fool's Gold
Tuesday 29th June 2010
Michael is determined to keep his marriage break-up private and throws himself into work. He becomes increasingly frustrated by a tricky patient and takes his irritation out on Elizabeth and Donna. In theatre, Michael loses a patient – he has hit rock bottom.
Elliot is desperate to raise the remaining funds to treat Ben, who needs the operation as soon as possible. It seems like a futile mission until he finds medical rep Maggie Winton, who agrees to supply the laser if Elliot agrees to dodge some red tape.
Penny is desperate to impress Linden so, when he challenges her to work with Frieda, Penny is determined to make it work. However, when Penny and Frieda disagree over a case, Penny is forced to pull rank and refuses to accept that Frieda has made the correct diagnosis. The patient goes into sepsis and Linden must save him, leaving Penny back at square one.
