Penny riles Frieda by sucking up to an obviously lazy and arrogant locum, Glynn, who's working on AAU, as the medical drama continues. When Penny and Frieda argue over a patient's treatment, Penny sidelines her and makes her feel small. Later, Penny notices Frieda performing a procedure that only a doctor could do and realises that Frieda is a trained doctor.
Lady Byrne turns up to offer moral support to Joseph – Faye is due to receive the Lowes test results. The results are negative. Lady Byrne reveals she's been making plans for the baby but Faye tells her and Joseph that she wants nothing from either of them.
A Failure To Communicate

Jac is promoted to acting consultant on Keller, but she clashes with Ric over a difficult patient. When she tells Ric that he's past it, she has to publicly apologise in order to save her credibility with the team.
Greg discovers that Oliver told tales to Connie, blaming him for Oliver's botched procedure. Greg gets his revenge when he discovers a patient's attractive relative is a high-class prostitute and sets Oliver up on a date. Oliver realises he's blown his chances with his mentor. Penny tries to encourage Frieda's skills as a doctor but Frieda tells her to stay out of her life.

Annalese wants Ric to move in with her while he's undergoing chemotherapy. Michael takes the news well but, as Connie increasingly encroaches on his territory, Michael finds it harder and harder to contain his growing frustration.
When Connie hands over a case to Greg instead of him, Joseph fears he's becoming a doormat again. Joseph attempts to assert his authority over Greg by undermining him, but ends up humbled when he has to call for Greg's assistance in theatre. Frieda spends her 30th birthday doing the night shift, much to her chagrin... but things momentarily look up when an old friend who's an agency nurse turns up.
