Steph calls in to ask Cheryl to work an extra shift at Mobs and is shocked to hear that she’s finished with Fernando. When Mercedes pops in, she’s quick to take delight in ridiculing Cheryl’s single situation; however, Cheryl has the last laugh and tells her she’s already moved on – to Calvin! With Gilly in ear shot, Cheryl plays up to Calvin when he comes to confront her. Panicking that she has true feelings for him, Calvin flounders until Gilly moves away and Cheryl insists it was all for show, she only wants to be his friend! When Rhys tells Gilly that Steph’s broken up with Fernando, he decides to face her, however, a guilty Cheryl sticks her oar in and tells him that Steph’s crazy about Fernando and it’s only a matter of time before they’re back together. After a terrible day, a grateful Steph receives some TLC from Frankie as she laments on letting Gilly slip through her fingers…

It’s full steam ahead for Zoe and Kris as plans for their travelling adventure gather speed. Nancy is still hurt that her responsibilities can’t allow her to tag along; however, she hides this well when Hannah arrives and announces she’s reserved three Inter-rail passes – she’s going with them! An excited Hannah is unaware that both Kris and Zoe have reservations about her joining them; they don’t want to play nurse-maid to an anorexic. Unfortunately for Kris, Hannah overhears his acerbic comments and flees. The search for her proves fruitless; however Zoe bumps into Zak and Mike who both wish her luck. Nancy and Kris make their peace and agree they want to stay together, while Zoe’s arrival brings news of Hannah. Agreeing that she’s being selfish, Hannah pulls out of the trip, only for Kris and Zoe to discover that Zak and Michaela are considering tagging along! Michaela’s furious that Zak expects her to go with Zoe and as a fight brews, Nancy and Hannah are grateful they’re staying at home…

Now Amy’s working at Evissa, she’s happy to help with the house-keeping and offers Mike a contribution. Insisting she’ll take the kids out of his way to free him up for study time resonates with Mike and he sadly confesses his college days are over. Admitting that he’s way behind on course work and that Sarah’s death has affected him profoundly, he’s decided to drop out and look for a job. Amy arrives at a surprised Ste’s and sets about helping him tidy up. Ste’s grateful that she brought the kids ‘round and insists that finally, he’s making something of his life. Pleased, a relaxed Amy invites him back to hers for tea…

Calvin and Cheryl are uncomfortable as the kiss from last night hangs heavy in the air. Denying his embarrassment, Calvin makes a sharp exit to the Loft. His peace is shattered when a fuming Mercedes flies in and confronts him about his ‘kiss’ with Cheryl. Flattered that she’s jealous, he maintains it was just a drunken snog… however, Mercedes insists Cheryl won’t let go of him that easily! Thankful that Cheryl has let him off the hook; Calvin arranges to meet Mercedes and declares he can’t be without her. As they crash into a passionate clinch, their kiss is witnessed by a stunned Kris…

(Episode 2742)

Zoe’s got a skip in her step with her new life only a plane ride away. Zak’s stressed and confides in Hayley about his planned trip – he and Michaela have very different opinions on where they want to go. His troubles worsen when Michaela demands that they go where she wants, or they stay put! With Zoe wanting a more cultured adventure, it’s only a matter of time until tempers flare. With Michaela determined to get another rave destination in, and Zoe reluctant to concede, Michaela pulls out of the trip. India too causes a stir when she accidentally reveals to Zak that Hayley's pregnant. Zak’s stunned and seeing a laughing Rhys, drinking at the bar, heads over and shoves him before announcing to everyone Hayley’s pregnant!

As the news sinks in, Hayley arrives. Rhys, Zak and Hayley contemplate the future. Wanting to escape, Hayley heads off before telling a relieved Rhys not to worry, he’s not the father. However, as Neville probes and asks Rhys about his relationship with Hayley, his doubts begin to pile up – could he be…? Meanwhile, Zak’s decided he can’t leave Hayley and go travelling, and much to his surprise, a benevolent Michaela turns up and pulls out too. As they make up and both agree to stay at home together, Zoe receives a shock when Kris also pulls out of the trip. Unable to tell her he’s staying for Malachy, Kris takes her anger on the chin, as his dreams of travelling disintegrate…

Kris struggles to cope with the pressure of knowing that Mercedes is having an affair. He’s alarmed to find Malachy house hunting, and Mercedes waltzing round without a care in the world. As talk turns to Kris’ trip, both Malachy and Mercedes enjoy ribbing him, and unable to bear her sarcastic comments, Kris lets rip. Mercedes laughs off Kris’ caustic words; however, Malachy is suspicious of his brother’s outburst. Dragging Kris from the Dog, Malachy demands he apologises to Mercedes, but Kris remains resolute. Aware something is eating away at him, Malachy insists he spit it out, and is floored when a baleful Kris tells him he saw Mercedes and Calvin kissing. Malachy looks to the bottom of a beer can to help him through, and no matter how Kris tries to cajole him, he’s adamant that life will continue as normal and that Kris should treat Mercedes as if nothing has happened.

Kris struggles to contain his anger and with one acerbic comment, finds himself on the receiving end of Malachy’s fist. As the brothers calm down, Kris is horrified to hear Malachy admit he already knew about Mercedes’ affair, and as long as she comes back to him every night, he can tolerate it. Beseeching Kris to hold his counsel, he states he’ll do anything to keep her. Seeking out Mercedes, Malachy’s advances are rebuffed and to add insult to injury, she tells him Calvin’s put her on a double shift. Malachy battles with his anger and as the tears fall, he realises it’s over between them…

Michaela turns to Mike as her frustrations about Zoe intensify. Doling out some fatherly advice Michaela falls into his arms as her paranoia over Zak fancying Zoe intensifies. Mike attempts to educate Michaela on the cultural highlights of Europe, however, she’s more wrapped up in what she wants from her trip and although the chat with Mike has helped her make a decision, it’s only serviced to highlight to him how much he’s missed out on.

(Episode 2743)

A despondent Zoe sets about unpacking her bags and reflects on her shattered dream. While Hannah tries to lighten the mood and urges her to consider still going travelling, Nancy has reservations and deems her still too fragile in the aftermath of Lydia to cope. Zoe bumps into Mike, who challenges her fear of setting off on her own, but after they find themselves reminiscing about the plans they made together, he’s left questioning his own reasons for not going. When she crosses paths with Zak, she is understanding of his decision not to join her and is glad to be comforted by her friend when she starts to break down about the prospect of sticking around.

Prompted, now by Zak, to reconsider this opportunity of a lifetime, Zoe makes an announcement to a surprised Archie; she’s going it alone! As Zoe starts to repack her stuff, her mind turns to Kris, as she worries about not getting to say goodbye and Nancy confides how much she’s going to miss her. They are interrupted by a knock at the door and Zoe is both shocked and delighted to see that it’s Mike with his rucksack! As the travellers prepare to depart, everyone, apart from Kris, turns up to say their farewells. The cab starts to pull away, but comes to a standstill when Gilly spots Kris running behind; Zoe jumps out and the two friends embrace. After a teary goodbye, the trio set off, ready to embark upon their adventure.

While Cheryl and a troubled Steph prepare for ‘Fruitopia’ day at MOBS, Gilly’s feeling down in the dumps. Disgruntled with Steph’s choice of outfit for her, Cheryl sets about winding her up about Fernando and a fight breaks out between the girls. Steph is left reeling from Cheryl’s shock revelation that Gilly is in love with her! She tries to hide her elation and assure Cheryl that his feelings are not reciprocated, but Cheryl’s not convinced. Steph is forced to admit her true feelings and Cheryl persuades her to go and tell Gilly how she feels. Elsewhere, on hearing the news that Mike’s joining Zoe on her travels, Hannah considers that this could be just the thing Gilly needs and offers him her InterRail ticket.

Rhys goes to send Gilly on his way and the friends sadly prepare to be parted, but Gilly knows he needs to do this to get over Steph. Meanwhile, Steph turns up at The Dog, where Hannah informs her of Gilly’s imminent departure and she sets off for the village in a race against time. Gilly receives a text message from Steph, but Rhys tosses his phone into the bin before he even has the chance to read it. She arrives only to discover that she’s come to the wrong place and then finally reaches the piazza just as the crowd of well-wishers is dispersing; she’s missed him! Steph crumbles, knowing that her chance of a union with Gilly has gone forever.

A thoughtful Mike tells Amy about Zoe’s suggestion that he joins her travelling. Despite contemplating the idea, he’s determined that he couldn’t leave Amy and the kids. However, Amy questions this notion, and wanting her dad to be happy, she persuades him that she needs to be left alone to grow up. In order to further convince him that she’s settled and will cope, she lies that she’s planned to move back in with Ste; she won’t take no for an answer. After Amy has surprised Ste by arriving on his doorstep with her bags, Mike turns up to warn him off hurting his daughter again and Ste vows not to let Mike down. Assured that Amy will survive without him, Mike prepares to set off and father and daughter bid each other an emotional farewell.
