(Episode 2771)
Josh panics about his forthcoming court case, and can't help but fear the possibility of prison. Trying to calm his fears, Rhys attempts to cheer him up; however, Neville's arrival halts all joviality. Insisting Josh stays on the other side of the bar until his drink driving charge is resolved sends Josh into a fury and it's only the timely arrival of Gilly, returning from Thailand that calms the warring family. Pleased but surprised that Gilly's back from his travels, the Ashworths are eager to know why he's returned, but insisting the gossip will come later; his first priority is to support Josh. Suggesting that he needs to put up more of a fight, Josh flounders when Gilly suggests he should change his plea to not guilty, and it's clear his words are having a profound effect. Talking to Rhys, Gilly expresses his concerns about Josh and by his reaction and slight hesitation; he senses that all is not what it seems. Gilly's blown away by an excited Steph's appearance when she arrives at the Dog with Cheryl, however, her dreams are shattered when Gilly declares his love for Jem and asks her to marry him. Devastated by his public declaration, Steph flees with her world crumbling around her…
Cheryl tries to keep Steph occupied; however, her over exuberance results in a smoothie disaster just as Gilly arrives. Finding herself covered in bits of fruit, Steph's embarrassed by her appearance as she tentatively catches up with Gilly. With her emotions running high, she cautiously asks about his time in Barcelona. Insisting he best get on, Gilly suggests catching up in the Dog later, and a buoyed Steph's heart soars at the prospect. Heading to Evissa to prepare for her 'date' with Gilly, Steph is hit by a wave of guilt about having fun while Holly is still missing. Frankie allays her fears and intuitively guesses that there's a man involved before sitting her down and working her magic. Cheryl's back is immediately up when Jem arrives at the salon and mistakes her for staff. As the banter gets personal between the girls, Jem makes a sharp exit leaving a fuming Cheryl wondering exactly who she is…
Dave and Charlotte's walk to the pub is interrupted by a would be mugger but a mystery girl saves the day, leaving them both awe-struck. Naturally, in the SU, talk turns to the heroin of the hour, with both Dave and Charlotte fancying their chances with her. They're distracted by an advert for Student Warden and for a short time a debate brakes out between them and India on who would be the best candidate for the role. With talk turning to Josh and his court case, the friends find it difficult to deal with and wonder why he just can't admit what he did and face his responsibilities. Dave's attention is diverted when the mystery girl arrives and introducing himself, he's soon on the charm offensive and fills Jem in on life in Hollyoaks. Suggesting they maybe hook up, Jem evades the question by noticing Charlotte's interest in them. Thinking that she's Dave's girlfriend, he's quick to mention that Charlotte's gay and as Jem leaves, India is thrilled to point out that Jem and Charlotte appear to be hitting it off too. Competitive as ever, talk returns to the Student Warden position and India declares that she's put both of their names down. Unsure whether to apply, the decision is made for them after hearing about the perks of the job… let the battle commence…

(Episode 2772)
Rhys is worried about Josh's court case, wracked with guilt over the trouble that he has caused. To make matters worse, Josh tells him he's decided to change his plea and, rather than guilty, he's going to plead not guilty at the court hearing tomorrow. Rhys knows that this could result in a longer jail sentence for Josh and begs him not to. Josh mistakes Rhys' concern for doubt and, fearing he's now lost the support of his brother, he leaves. Later, when Gilly finds a downbeat Josh, he encourages him to be strong, promising Josh he has faith in him. Buoyed by Gilly's support, Josh realises what he needs to do and heads home. Back at The Ashworth's, Rhys is surprised when he finds Josh packing a bag and immediately thinks he's doing a bunk. A calm Josh tells Rhys that he's decided to plead guilty and is preparing for the jail sentence that he's certain to be given.
Steph is down in the dumps after her disastrous 'date' with Gilly. At MOBs, she unsuccessfully tries to hide from Jem and, surprised when she asks her for a drink, Steph struggles for an excuse not to go. Cheryl is also miffed by the arrival of Jem but quickly jumps in and takes up the drink offer herself. She's completely over the top and nice to Jem but her friendly facade doesn't wash and when Steph later arrives, Jem confides in her that she suspects Cheryl still loves Gilly. Jem persuades a guilty Steph to meet her alone but as Steph waits for her, Darren arrives and immediately susses Steph's man trouble. Darren is amused when Steph reluctantly admits she's in love with Gilly but tells her if it's what she wants then she's got to fight for it, knowing only too well himself how she feels. Steph forms a plan to get her man and confirms to a shocked Jem that Cheryl loves Gilly and wants him back.
Things are looking up for Ste and Amy, especially Amy's progress with Leah and Lucas. After successfully settling the pair down for a nap, Amy tells Ste she'll make his favourite dinner for him. As Amy leaves for work, Ste gets the house clean and scrubs himself up, hoping to impress Amy some more. At Evissa, Amy confides in Michaela about how well things are going with Ste. A wary Michaela warns her not to get back together with him but Amy insists they're just good friends and she thinks it might be time to move on. Michaela is thrilled and immediately organises a night out to find her a new hot man. Back home, Amy decides to break the news to Ste about seeing other people but he doesn't take it as well as she's hoped and storms out. Later, as Michaela and Amy prepare for their girls night out, a much calmer Ste returns home. Amy is cautious of Ste's mood but is grateful when he tells her she looks nice. The pair share a smile and it's clear that all is forgiven.
After both deciding to go for the same job, Dave and Charlotte are at loggerheads as they fill in their applications. India arrives late as she was hoping to meet Rhys under false pretences but was rumbled by Darren. India quickly becomes fed up of Charlotte and Dave's childish behaviour, reminding them about Josh's impending court case. They apologise to India for being insensitive but as soon as she leaves, Dave and Charlotte continue their argument.

Josh is up in court for drink driving. The family are anxious, but no one more so than a guilty Rhys who’s about to let his brother take the rap for the car crash when he knows he’s to blame. Rhys battles with his conscience as the trial draws near but will he come clean? Hurt by his dad’s lack of support and dreading the day ahead, Josh goes to see India, but he’s gutted when she’s not in and Dave’s frosty with him. India’s traumatised by the memories of the car crash, but turns up in court after a visit from Rhys. Josh’s spirits are lifted when he sees her arrive, assuming she’s come to support him, unaware that Rhys is the real reason she’s there. As the verdict’s read out, Rhys breathes a huge sigh of relief as Josh avoids going to prison and he’s off the hook. On a high after the verdict, a hopeful Josh goes to see India but he’s brought down with a bang when he realises he’s lost her and his friends.
Steph’s determined to win Gilly back. Although she’s made a pact with Cheryl to help her get close to him, Steph’s slightly suspicious of her motives. Cheryl genuinely wants to help but she can’t help swooning when Gilly arrives to thank them for making Jem feel so welcome. Both girls are downhearted when they realise he’s got no interest in either of them. Steph sees an opportunity to get rid of any potential threat from Cheryl and plants doubts in Jem’s mind about Cheryl’s intentions, purposely letting slip that she’s with Gilly in The Dog. Jem makes a point of warning Cheryl off, but it soon becomes clear to Cheryl what Steph has done. Cheryl declares war with Steph for Gilly’s affections.

(Episode 2774)
Despite not being behind bars, Josh is still down and full of self loathing. Rhys tries to make him see the positives, telling him he's free to move on but for Josh it's not enough as people still believe he was guilty. Feeling responsible for Josh, Rhys encouragingly offers to take him to his alcohol awareness meeting. Before they can leave, the brothers are stopped by India and Meriel, a reporter from the Chester Herald. Blanking Josh, India tells Rhys they're here to do an interview with the local hero, Rhys. Suzanne quickly points out that Josh is their son too but Neville intervenes, insisting Rhys receives the recognition he deserves. It's all too much for Josh to bear and he hastily leaves for his meeting, alone. Encouraged by India, a reluctant Rhys answers Meriel's questions, but as talk turns to how big the story could be, Rhys' ego is given a boost and he begins to relent, enjoying his new hero status. Josh returns to find the cosy set up and clearly inebriated, he becomes lairy. Rhys later finds him drinking alone and, feeling worse than ever, he gives him some advice, hoping to get his life back on track. When Josh returns home, Suzanne is gutted to see he's drunk but Neville is only angered further, embarrassed by his son. It's all too much for Josh and he lets rip on his shocked family. Unable to cope with disappointment any longer, Josh tells them he's moving out.
Steph continues with her plan to win Gilly's heart, hoping he'll choose her over Jem. Whilst leaving him a voicemail, she's interrupted by Cheryl, who is totally on to her scheming. Steph smugly tells Cheryl that Gilly has offered to help her at the Council Hall but is left red-faced when an even smugger Cheryl catches her out - Gilly's working in The Dog with her. Meanwhile, Jem is perturbed when Gilly, unaware of her worries, tells her he's working with Cheryl all day. She hastily offers to work the shift for him, anything to keep him away from her rival. Steph is made up that Gilly's spending the day helping her and goes all out to win him over. She casually gives him her raffle prize - a signed Man City shirt, knowing how much it'll mean to him and the pair enjoy their flirty banter. Back at The Dog, the atmosphere is unbearable between Jem and Cheryl. Fed up, Cheryl finally breaks and persuades Jem to go for a drink to clear the air. The flirting continues with Steph and Gilly at MOBs, that is until Cheryl and Jem arrive. Steph's gutted and can only watch in horror as Gilly hands over his prized shirt to Jem.
After her 'fake date' with Archie, Sasha and Michaela visit Amy to help cheer her up. They are pleased when Amy tells them her doctor's taking her off her anti-depressants but can see she's unsure it's the right decision. The girls decide there's only one thing for it - a party to celebrate. With Sasha's attack still on her mind, the girls settle on drinks in Amy's, but there's no compromising on the glamour and they set to work to get themselves ready. Nosey as ever, Michaela spots an unopened airmail letter from Mike. Curiosity getting the better of her, she takes a sneaky peak and is gobsmacked with its contents. The party gets going but Amy's struggling to muster much enthusiasm. About to burst with excitement, Michaela can't wait any longer and insists Amy opens her letter straight away. Amy's problems quickly vanish as she pulls out a cheque for £2,000 from Mike. Dave’s triumphant when he wins the Student Warden job over Charlotte.

(Episode 2775)
Steph confides in Darren, worried about the letter she sent to Gilly while he was away, so he takes it upon himself to find out if he ever received it. Darren heads over to the council hall where Jem and Gilly are helping with the ‘Find Holly’ campaign but he’s distracted seeing Cindy so emotionally distraught and desperately wants to comfort her. Cindy’s concerned that Holly’s become yesterday’s news, especially with Rhys’ face plastered all over the paper, overshadowing the fact that Holly’s still missing. Darren snaps when he sees how insensitive Rhys is being and gives him a piece of his mind. Steph’s relieved to hear Gilly never received her letter, but she can’t help feeling jealous of the obvious bond between Jem and Tom. After seeing Cindy looking so sad without Holly, Tom gives her a Mother’s Day card. Cindy’s touched, but with her jealousy ripe, Steph blames Jem for encouraging Tom to be so insensitive when she sees Cindy in tears. But Steph’s gutted when a furious Gilly defends Jem and accuses Steph of being wrapped up in herself.
Rhys feels bad after doing the ‘Hollyoaks’ Hero’ article in the press but soon gets carried away by India’s flattery and is enjoying his moment of fame. As they have a laugh together over his new found hero status, Darren has a go at him for being so insensitive. Feeling guilty, Rhys phones the paper to get more coverage for Holly, but they’re not prepared to do any more. India’s worried she’s really messed things up with Rhys but is glad when he texts to say sorry and wants to meet up.
Amy books a holiday with the girls. Ste’s excitedly planning how they can spend Mike’s money and is looking forward to getting away when she tells him she’s thinking of a holiday, but she can’t bring herself to tell him that he isn’t invited. Sasha’s birthday doesn’t get off to a good start until Amy tells them she’s booked a holiday for the girls. They’re thrilled but Michaela is less impressed when she realises the kids are coming too. After spending the night on the McQueens’ sofa, Josh finds himself homeless. Amy feels sorry for him and invites him to stay in her room while she’s away. But it’s the first Ste’s heard that it’s a girls holiday and he’s fuming. The girls have a party for Sasha’s birthday and get in the holiday spirit as an awkward Josh moves in.
Charlotte’s gutted Dave got the Student Warden job over her and makes life difficult for him by advertising his services 24/7. Dave’s curious as to how people are getting his number when he receives call after call of student problems as Charlotte secretly revels in the pressure he’s under. Dave’s had enough by the end of his first day as Student Warden and quits.
