Monday 5th July 2010
(Episode 2856)

Gaz is furious – he’s been set up! He tells Lauren he’s in trouble, but when Sasha hears he was arrested with a gun she wants Lauren to stay away. When Lauren finds out Gaz might have threatened Anita with the gun, she accuses her friend of lying. Gaz has a hard time convincing DI Andrews he knew nothing about the gun. Andrews thinks there could be a link between Gaz and Calvin’s murder and to Gaz’s horror, the ballistics report on the weapon confirms this. DI Andrews formally charges Gaz with Calvin’s murder.

Jacqui’s disgusted by the attack on Relish. She thinks Anita must be terrified and drags Des over to be the counselling school teacher. Des feels awkward to be put on the spot with Anita. He didn’t want to return to the scene of the crime. Later, when Anita tells the McQueens about Gaz’s gun, Jacqui gets nervous and tries to get rid of Anita. Mercedes starts to doubt their plan to clear Theresa’s name will work. When DI Andrews calls round, they fear the worst. Instead he tells them Gaz has been charged. It should be a relief to the McQueens, but then Theresa makes an unexpected outburst: Gaz didn’t do it…

Ravi is determined not to give in to his enemies. Whoever attacked Relish isn’t going to intimidate him. Anita’s unsure – when she was with him in the woods, Gaz had a gun. She tries to tell Jacqui about Gaz, but struggles to find the courage. When she does finally tell the McQueens, Jacqui is quick to get rid of her. Later, Anita gets to talk to Lauren, she starts to win her round to the idea Gaz meant to hurt her. Anita thinks it was payback for the time she left him for dead. Afraid the police could still come after her, Anita confesses all to Ravi.

Cheryl does her best to be a comfort to Steph and ends up treated like a slave. Steph’s become a right little madam since she became ill, and it looks like Frankie and Cheryl are set to revolt. They ostracise Steph, in the hope she’ll see how she’s been acting up. When they finally get Steph to relax she hits upon a way to make the most of her illness: become a reality TV star! She’ll audition to be a singer on the telly. Her sob-story is bound to take her to the top.


Tuesday 6th July 2010
(Episode 2856

Jacqui worries they can’t keep Theresa quiet forever. She tries to pass off Theresa’s comments last night as post-traumatic stress. Carmel buys this, but Theresa hates the thought she’s got an innocent man locked up. She’s determined to tell the police the truth. Jacqui tries to reason that they won’t get a conviction for Gaz, because he didn’t actually do it, so Theresa should let it go to trial. Their arguing gets out of hand and Myra walks in on it. Thankfully she hasn’t heard about the murder, but the cat’s out of the bag about Theresa’s baby. Theresa won’t say who the father is. Myra gives Theresa some pearls of wisdom about being a mother. It changes Theresa’s mind about Gaz. She’s got a responsibility to her baby. She can’t go to prison. Jacqui’s glad to be in the clear, but Mercedes is unconvinced. What will Theresa do if she finds out they set Gaz up?

Cindy enjoys toying with Darren’s feelings. He thinks she’s in denial about him, and in truth she still wants him. In the meantime, Darren’s happy to keep flirting with Suzanne. Cindy decides it’s time to keep Darren sweet. She’s bought some racy underwear and goes round to Darren’s the give him a treat. Cindy’s shocked to walk in on Darren…and Suzanne. Caught in the act!

Lauren isn’t convinced that Gaz is the killer. She visits him in prison to get some answers. Although she believes Gaz isn’t Calvin’s killer, she wants to know what he meant to do to Anita. Gaz admits he wanted payback. It’s enough for Lauren to turn her back on him. Gaz feels desperate. He’s not sure how he’ll cope without Lauren. He tells Lauren he loves her, but it’s not enough. Lauren walks out on Gaz. He might not have killed Calvin, but she thinks he could have killed Anita and that’s bad enough.

Steph is going all out to be a star. Gilly tries hard to disguise his laughter at the all-singing, all-dancing Steph. Steph recruits him to be her manager. She needs a backing band and gigs. When Gilly thinks she can’t be serious, she reminds him she’s got cancer. It’s her trump card in everything. Gilly uses it to blackmail Rhys into being Steph’s drummer. He can’t say anything to get out of it. Steph’s dreams of stardom are starting to take shape.


Wednesday 7th July 2010
(Episode 2858)

Cheryl’s worried about the Valentines. She wonders if Carmel is the person to help them through their grief. Cheryl’s attempt to be a friend to the Valentines only seems to make things worse. She ends up packing her things and leaving. Carmel makes a gesture and buys the Valentines all presents. Lauren thinks it’s crass; tacky gifts won’t change anything. Their sense of hopelessness manages to bring Sasha and Lauren closer somehow; they need to be there for each other. They decide to sort Leo out. They want their dad back and realise they need Carmel to make it work. Cheryl feels put out when she realises Carmel means more to the Valentines than she ever did.

Darren loves that he’s got Cindy’s back up. She can’t hide her jealousy at catching him in bed with someone else. Suzanne worries Cindy could let slip to Neville. Matters are made worse when Jake sees them together. Can Suzanne trust them all to keep a secret? She heads home only to find Rhys has told Neville everything. Rhys isn’t sure he’s done the right thing when Neville ends up booting her out. Suzanne assumes it was a jealous Cindy who landed her in it, and has to go and stay with Darren and Cindy while she gets herself together. It’s hellish for Darren. He ends up as little more than their man-servant, forced to sleep on the couch.

Dave’s sick as a dog after an all-night bender. When Suzanne asks if it’s food poisoning, Dave gets an idea for a scam. He finds an expensive receipt for a meal last night and demands compensation from Gnosh. They made him ill. Ste is belligerent, but Tony knows what’s best for business. He gives in to Dave’s demands, but later realises Dave just fished the receipt out of a bin. Tony sets Dave a challenge – identify the wine he ordered last night in a taste test and he’ll refund the meal. Dave fails, much to Ste’s delight. Ste revels in telling Dave he’s been barred… from every eatery in twenty miles.

Jakes is stunned when a face from the past suddenly turns up…in his bed.


Thursday 8th July 2010
(Episode 2859)

Cheryl’s barely out the door before her day starts to go wrong. In Drive n’ Buy, while buying scratchcards and gum, she sees Steph out promoting her gig. Cheryl offers her support, but her day doesn’t get any better – she manages to break her phone and then realises she’s lost her purse. Meanwhile Steph prepares to take the stage. She’s all set to break into song when Gilly trips and nearly brings the stage down. Cheryl comes to Steph’s aid, and she’s encouraged to give the gig a second go. Although Steph’s voice isn’t up to much, the gig is a huge hit with the punters. Steph’s ambition is reignited. Afterwards, Cheryl’s reunited with her bag…and her winning scratchcard for £250,000.

Josh is released from prison early, much to Neville’s surprise. He’s had no time to prepare and Josh discovers Suzanne has now moved in with Darren. Some welcome! Neville fills Josh in on the affair and has to stop his son going round and confronting Darren. Rhys has been roped into handing out free drinks by Gilly for Steph’s gig. In return, Rhys decides to rope Gilly into the band. That’ll teach him. Josh calls in on Rhys. He wants to know why his brother has let this happen. Rhys tries to bury the hatchet and gives Josh a place on his band. When Suzanne turns up to see him, Josh turns on her. She’s shocked when her own son pushes her away in disgust.

Jake’s perturbed by the sudden appearance of Loretta last night. He managed to kick her out, but he’s worried what she’ll do next. Unbeknownst to Jake, Loretta is spying on him. She deliberately runs in to him at The Dog. Jake tells her to stay away, but when Rhys walks in on it, Loretta quickly turns things around so it looks like Jake is the crazy obsessive, not her.

Nancy feels her life is just slipping away. She feels unattractive and left on the shelf. Elliot encourages her to go out and support Steph at her gig. When he gets wind of the ‘Who’s the Hotty?’ competition, Elliot decides to enter Nancy.

Charlotte enjoys a sense of power as she pits India and Jem against each other for a job at the SU Bar. India and Jem have to work together on a night to impress Charlotte, though it soon becomes a competition to see who can sell the most tickets.


Friday 9th July 2010
(Episode 2860)

Cheryl’s had a wild night celebrating her lottery win. Then the worst happens. Cheryl’s lost the scratchcard. They end up digging about in the dirt for it, much to Jake’s concern. He worries to see his sister risking her health by staying out all night. Steph gets some great news. It appears a talent scout heard her sing and wants to meet up. Jake doesn’t like the sound of it, but Steph doesn’t want a chaperone, so she lies to Jake and goes alone. Just when it seems she’s been stood up, Loretta appears, offering her a lift home. However, once she’s in the car Loretta starts to drive Steph away from home.

Nancy tries to find a sexy look, but she’s not having much luck. Elliot’s far too honest about her outfits for her liking. Realising something needs to be done for her confidence, Elliot asks Charlotte to rig the event in Nancy’s favour. Nancy survives a round against Amy, thanks to the young-mum’s embarrassing admissions. However, at the final she fails to win out against Cheryl who’s won over the crowd with round after round of drinks. In commiserating Nancy, Elliot inadvertently tells her he loves her!

Charlotte makes the most of Jem and India’s desire to impress her. She’s getting free breakfasts, massages, the works. However, once the night’s been a big success she’s got to come up with a winner. As India’s White Russian cocktail went down so well with Cheryl, India made the bar the most money. India gets the job.

Amy’s at a loss. Sasha’s nowhere to be found. She ends up sat on her own in the SU Bar. India sees her at a loose end and invites her to the ‘Who’s the Hotty?’ competition. She goes head to head with Nancy, but some of her past mistakes cast her in an unattractive light.

Lauren’s terrified when a knock at the door brings Kyle crashing back into her home. For some reason, Lauren thinks he got Theresa pregnant. What’s going on?
